Runes

Dark Harvest - The standard rune is dark harvest combined with gathering storm. This scales really well but takes a while to come online. Dark harvest pairs well with shaco’s E since shaco’s E is an execute. However, I believe first strike has overtaken this ruin for several reason.

First Strike – I believe first strike is the best ruin for AP. This ruin does decent damage throughout the whole game and provides strong returns. On AP shaco you should be placing boxes to zone the enemy team or to plan out a trap. When enemies walk into the traps you are pretty much guaranteed 50 gold. This adds up over the course of the game and should provide you with around 1500 gold by the end of them. Plus you get free boot from the inspiration tree and you get 550 gold from treasure hunter. That is a combine gold value of 2,350 gold. You also have access to futures market. So you practically get a whole item for free from runes if you factor in futures market.
Reason why First Strike is King on AP shaco:
- Insane gold value when you combine with free boots, futures market and treasure hunter
- The damage is comparable to electrocute by the end of the game
- Inspiration tree provides you with 10 extra MS because of the free boots
- If you get behind, you are still in the game. Remember you should end the game with around 2,350 gold through runes alone.
