Aurelion Sol is a mid-range, semi-tanky mage. His cosmic powers demand enemy respect. Aurelion is the first champion who does loads of damage without casting or using mana. He has amazing potential in teamfights and horrendously scary ganks. In this guide I will teach you how to play him. A good portion of his kit however, takes practice that no one can teach you. But build,tips/tricks and the occasional video will help you on your way.

Core

This is what helps you push wave and survive early harass. Get this every game and start pushing the wave from level one! Keep poping this for mana and pushing the lane until you have 350 gold at least. The back and buy Dark Seal. The added ap and regen from it will help you for the remainder of laning phase and you will now have a small item advantage early game.

Great on Aurelion Sol. It helps avoid ap burst and keeps you from being cc locked. I almost always get this as a defensive boot option.

Core on Aurelion Sol. Has health mana and ap all which help build your stats for the late game. The passive is perfect for laning phase. Aurelion Sol's w has a great role in his kit and you want to be able to use it often. Items such as Athene's Unholy Grail have good mana sustain but lack the health stats we want.

This item turns you into a chasing and kiting machine! The slow and tankiness perfectly fall into place for your kit. The sheer ap this item brings is also much appreciated. This item is core on Aurelion Sol

Aurelion relies heavily on movespeed. Both his q and his e benefit from movespeed. You can shoot/enlarge your q more, and stack your e quicker. Even your passive uses movespeed, the
ability to out run and maneuver quickly helps position your stars to hit enemies consistently.

OFFENSIVE

Aurelion Sol Benefits as stated before, from move speed. This item provides a chunk of ap and % movespeed. Do to Aurelion Sol's kit, he stacks the passive quickly allowing for good poke damage or burst when using his ultimate. A very solid offensive item.

This is the item for destroying those pesky magic resist stacking opponents. Or having the pleasure of doing true damage to an incompetent enemy. Void staff helps channel your dps into powerful damage.

What else is there to buy when you want LOTS OF AP DAMAGE!

Defensive

A perfect active to counter AD assassins. Due to your near lack of escapes this item is almost essential against any team with bursty assassins like Zed. The added armor and ap benefits your kit very well. Build this often.

This item+ Rylai's Crystal Scepter=Big damage
The stacking slows and burn damage is just devastating. I highly reccomend this combo against any team with tanky champions. The %health shred and perma slow help kite them to death and you have a dragon size health pool.

Spells

Center Of Universe

Aurelion surrounds himself with the stars themselves. The rotate around him, dealing damage and procing spell effects. This is your bread and butter, most of your damage comes from this passive, which is why Aurelion Sol is so unique.

Starsurge

Aurelion conjures a newborn star in a direction. He can follow along its path ,gaining 10% movespeed, extending its range and growing it in size. When the star gets outside of Aurelion Sol's celestial expansion range, it explodes dealing damage and stunning enemies for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds.

Celestial Expansion

This is arguably Aurelion Sol's hardest skill to use. Aurelion projects his star's orbit outwards, dealing 150% damage the stars normally do. It also increases the passive's base damage. This skill is amazing in any skirmish when used correctly. A good Aurelion knows when to turn it off and on. When enemies are closer hitting this is impossible.

Comet Of Legend

This skill puts Quinn to shame. Aurelion gains movespeed when moving in a straight line. Some of this speed is stored as stacks (up to 100) and can be used to FLY. Yes Aurelion can take flight in a straight line over terrain for up to 7000 units! His starsurge can be cast in flight. If he takes damage or issues a move command he ceases flight.

Voice Of Light

Aurelion shoots a massive burst of cosmic energy in a line. This knocks back enemies near him as well as slowing everyone in it for 4sec. This is the anti assassin/big red button/escape move. Use this in teamfights to wreak havoc. You are much more vulnerable with its long cooldown so be wary of that.




Play Video This is a simple combo used everywhere in the game. You stun the enemy and slam them with your stars. This is what you do for poke in lane, or for a gank, or for an engage. The starsurge has extra range if you run with it so be mindful of that. Play Video This is your burst combo. It is like the one above but with the added burst of your ult. Play Video This is your gank combo. This huge stun can with fights or surprise enemies. Play Video This shows off how powerful zhonya's hourglass is on aurelion. The stars continue the damage even in stasis.

Aurelion has surprisingly good clears. He even can use his stars to clear multiple camps at once. His starsurge and passive can be utilized to expertly kite jungle camps. This makes him a great jungler


Mid Aurelion

1 Laning phase
You probably are dealing with an assassin of burst mage. They probably can out trade you in laning phase if you arent careful. To get an advantage push wave from level 1 with w. Push to their tower when safe with wards. Then proceed to farm using w until you can back for dark seal. Then continue to push lane and roam as much as possible. BUY VISION WARDS! They help guarantee good roams without being spotted. Your roam is insane!! Once you build up a lead from roaming you can easily 1v1 your laning opponent.

Teamfight
In a teamfight you can be 1 of 2 things. You can engage the fight with a massive starsurge. Or you can sit on the backline and only let your star enter the fight. From this position you can also provide massive peel for the team. Use voice of light to counter an engage. The damage, slow, and knock up will turn the fight in your favor.
Towers/Seige
Mostly you want to avoid taking tower hits due to your stars. So your main role is to clear the wave allowing teammates to go in for the tower. Save a stun for them if they get egaged on.
Jungle Aurelion

Start blue side always!!!. Start with q on the first camp. Learn to kite camps using stars. Auto attacking is key! Save the starsurge for when you are furthest from the camp so you can begin kiting the other way with the stun. Prioritize ganks when you have your comet of legend up. It is basically a free TF ult. Bot lane is probably the easiest to gank because you can fly in over tri-bush of from behind your own jungle wall.
