I'll just make it choose a random list every time the block gets built. The life time of that particular randomized list will all depend on the caching. The cache can be refreshed for a number of reasons so it could change rapidly or not much. It will likely change at least 2 or 3 times an hour for members, but possibly less often for guests.
It's in, the featured guides are now selected at random every time that box gets built :) Note that, due to caching, this will only happen when the cache refreshes, which is unpredictable. Since it's random though, all the guides will get equal exposure over time.
