Shen support really hurts Gnar, especially pre-6. Most of Gnar's trade and all in power in lane is from auto attacks and his three-hit passive; Shen can counter engage on you once you go in and use his E-Q-W combo to out trade you everytime.
Against shen just focus on poke, if you're running guardian switch your secondary tree to Absolute Focus + Scorch

PROS
+ Lane Bully
+ Great CC + Peel/Engage + Good Escape against hook supports + Flexible Playstyle and Itemization + Underrated all in potential Gnar is a very strong and flexible support. His Boomerang Throw provides strong consistent poke in lane which allows him to soften up targets to prepare them for an all in with his Hop GNAR! combo. He has very strong early lane item spikes with Kindlegem and Phage being very valuable early purchases on Gnar. Out of lane Gnar is one of the best teamfighting supports in all of league. A good GNAR! can single-handedly win a teamfight. |

CONS
-Weak from behind
-Will get flamed at pick phase -High skill floor -Steep learning curve Playing Gnar support requires a strong understanding of every aspect of the hero to succeed. Gnar is a decently difficult champion so if you don't have a few games on it you will likely feed and lose. Gnar struggles from behind or when his team can't control the pace of the game, as he needs to be able to pick fights around his passive. |
