Highest win rate matchup against Kayn. With Hail Of Blades and Prowler's Claw, she can easily and will try to one-shot you, do not fight her early, with some armor/hp you might have a chance to be able to 1v1 her, time your W for her Prowler right after her E.
Your ult dodge her ult completely.
Master Yi
Hardest matchup, he has true damage, he can chase you through walls, his W negates your ult, he can out-1v1 you early (with Hail of Blades) and mid/late game (even with your red form), try out-gank him early on to get a snowball lead, ward carefully.
Do not let him have a lead, do not let him take Herald, play your early game perfectly. If he does get a lead, hold on to your W until he Q and protect your team. If he strikes you, fight a bit then ult him to not get him any reset.
Graves
He ***** on you early on, with red form you can fight him mid game, he will still win if he can kite you, if you miss your W, consider backing off, late game avoid fighting when he has his E stacks.
Kindred
Low play rate, but they counter you hard early to mid game, ask your team to ban for you.
Watch out for early invade.
Going blue is better in this matchup, try to catch her off guard and do not all in too early (her ult).
Poppy
Most people pick Poppy because they think they can counter you. Out-gank her early on, do not reveal yourself from the wall near her (She can push you out of the wall), their mindset is all about countering you so use it to your advantage, bait their engage, hold on to your Q till her W is finished, you can R in her W.
Kha'Zix
Avoid him early game, you will not be able to fight him head on pre-form, if you have ignite and he face checked your brush then it could be possible.
Try starting at the other side of the jungle to avoid fighting him at scuttle.
Vayne
True damage, try not get kitted, use your W wisely, play around your team, build Lethality (If she is a glass canon) or Armor Pen (when she have Randuin).
Camille
True damage, buy sterak's gage
Fiora
True percent health damage, bad, no need to buy sterak's gage.
Play around your team, if she ults you then ult her and E through a wall, she can W to negate your ult damage, bait her W before you ult with your W.
If you can, intentionally miss your W so you don't get stunned.
Lee Sin
Not a meta pick anymore, in the hand of a good player he will beat yo ***, with ignite you can duel him early game, without it you have to play from behind.
Try to start on the other side to not fight him at scuttle.
With form you can fight him easily.
Tryndamere
Play around your team, you can try 1v1 him if he's behind, ult him when he ult
Lulu
Slippery, hard to chased after their adc, consider buying Serpent's fang even on red form.
Nocturne
You can not fight him pre-form, he clears as fast as you so try to start from the other side of the jungle. He cannot chase you through wall early game tho.
Ward inside his jungle after lv6, look for counter gank.
With red form you have to monitor the minimap a lot, your countergank is super strong against him.
His ult makes your E blinded inside walls.
Malzahar
Do not go in rektlessly, pray for him to be stupid enough to waste his ult. Play around your team
Trundle
Late game, cover your team, he is not that tanky without his ult.
He usually builds HP tho so free heal from your ult.
Diana
Hard to fight pre-form, you can win against her after form, she can chase you through wall, try not to feed her early game and you are good to go.
Late game, zone her out of combat to prevent a five man ult from her.
Vi
DO NOT GIVE HER EARLY GAME KILL.
It's that simple, later on she falls off hard, consider starting opposite to her to dodge scuttle fight. With red form, you can fight bruiser Vi but you can't fight attack speed crit dps Vi, with blue form it's the opposite.
Jarvan IV
Slow clear, you fight him evenly at lv3~4, avoid getting hit first by him if you don't have red form, kite him out of his flag's buff aura, take ignite.
Shaco
Invide with your team early to **** with his boxes, or invade at 1:30 when he's clearing because most shaco player does not have flash (ignite + smite).
Don't play like a monkey, spam R if he use R, you can not ult the clone shaco if you haven't deal damage to it, only the real one has your Ult's passive after Shaco ulted.
You win 100% of the time after form, Q through his box for insta kill.
Ivern
wat?
tbh never seen him in ranked before, counter jungle him, maybe?
Malzahar
Consider getting Quicksilver Sash or Sterak's gage if you are the only tank in the team, getting focused on by his team will kill you instantly.
Bel'Veth
Bad jungler, you out trade her all the time with ignite, wait for her E (It would make her standing still) to make it easier to use your W.
Mordekaiser
Get out of your R before his ult ends, if you don't, your R won't heal you, look into the right side of your skill bar when you are ulting him to see the Morde's ult timer.
If he's not fed, you can 1v1 him easily after red form and Goredrinker, but when he has armor and you don't have armor pen, it will be much harder.
Item choice:
- You wanna join the huge team fight instead of 1v1-ing him? QSS.
- You wanna duel him or waste his time? Go with other mr item.
Sejuani
Can't fight her before form, after form, easily.
Merc tread and serylda recommended.
Zac
Buy anti-heal
He ganks hard, look for counter ganking opportunity, if he counter gank you, you lose, you win 1v1 with ignite early game. Your W negates his E, one Q and all of his passive blob is gone (hit both the dash and slash part).
Free red orb.
Viego
You lose to him at early game, you can duel him with Ironspike Whip, with ignite it would be easy, at mid game fight wait until both of you are 1/3 hp low, and react ult into him to dodge his ult.
Darius
He's very hard to gank without red form, he can face tank your damage until he has 5 stacks of passive on you, after that it's pretty much over.
Only gank after level 6 and when he's overstepping, blow all your spell on him, count his passive stacks on you, ult when he has 4 stacks and pray that your top can handle him.
Heimerdinger
Don't jump in like a maniac, he can and will burst you down HARD, your Q (both form) insta kill his normal turret.
Jax
Hard to gank early on, if he's jungle then you can 1v1 him early on if you can blow your combo first, with red form you can easily 1v1 him before he has 3/4 items.
Rammus
Can't fight him with his W on, without W he's pretty weak, try to counter gank him since you have better aoe damage.
Karthus
Try to predict his jungle pathing and invade him early on, you can easily 1v1 him even without ignite IF you can get close to him.
Beat him before he scale, he outscale you H A R D.
Twisted Fate
High CC, his ult reveals your flank + negating your E, he has good mobility (walks fast), merc tread recommended, buy pink ward to get good jungle vision.
Volibear
Pretty much like Darius, can't fight him early on without red form, even when you are 2v2, good thing is you can run away with your E.
Get form => Win
Cassiopeia
Can't Q or Ult inside her toxic puddle, high dps, very tough mid laner, try to bait her W or Ult before jumping in, play around vision and look for side flanking from the wall instead of facing her head on or flanking from behind.
If you are grounded, try running back to bait her to chase you and W knock up her to buy time.
Akali
Your Ult with reveal her invincibility, hold your W for your carry, don't chase her without your E, she will kite you to death with her Q.
K'Sante
gay.
If he caught you, ult + W and E away to group with your team.
Sion
**** tons of CC + slow, but he is a free HP pool, go with red pet + Black Cleaver + Serylda to **** on him.
Rengar
Do not fight him early, with red form it will be a breeze, you out scale him from then on, hold your W when you see him ulting.
Hecarim
fight him a bit in the jungle for free orbs, 2v2 you can't beat him, try to get red form then you will out scale him.
Consider Grevious Wound if there is another healing carry.
Nidalee
Watchout for early invade, a good nidalee will 100% try to mess with your early game, dodge her Q, ping your team for help, she can kite you with her auto so try not to push yourself too hard.
With either form it gets easy.
Milio
His push back mess with your Q alot. Consider going Grevious Wound and Lethality, fight their frontline, only going in if you hit your W, else you can't touch their carry.
Fiddlesticks
Grevious Wound, Merc Tread or QSS, get some cdr item, use your E to scout around before and while in teamfight to get his location before his ult, lv3-4 you can't fight him, after getting some basic magic resist it's breathable. Don't go ham, try ambushing him in the jungle, hold your knockup for his W.
Gangplank
Going Blue is much easier against this mf, going Red he will still one shot you, if you decided to go red, flank him. Time your R with his E. Ward in jungle or E to scout around to prevent a five men barrel ambush.
Morgana
Dodge her Q, if she ults you, watch the passive bar and time her stun with your ult, if you ult 1s too early, her stun will force you out.
Anivia
Slow + Stun + Wall, heads on you can't reach her so play around vision and flank her from the side.
Nunu & Willump
Hard counter gank you, with red form it's managable, hold your W for his ult if he gets in the middle of your team consider buying gargoyle and face tank his big snowball.
Sett
Red Kayn.
Don't let him grab your *** into your team, with your team, use W when his passive bar reach 80-90%, when you are alone, react ult to his W.
Free HP pool tbh.
Twitch
You sucks damage for him, he shoots for you

DPS mage, good, high cc, wall, slow, your best friend
Vex
Excels in dragon/baron fights, you go in first to lure+group the enemy team and wait for the loli nuke.
Nilah
My friend sometimes use her and I feel that she's pretty strong with Kayn, but I dunno her skill tho, lol.
Kassadin
You need dps mid laner, or an AP support if your team has only Kassadin as an ap damage source, he is only strong against squishies, tank does not care about Kass.
Nocturne
Using ignite or smite, you two can ******** their adc at the same time with your ults.
Maokai
He soaks a **** tons of damage, he also has ap damage, which is a plus.
His ult create chaos and give you movement speed, he has strong single target cc, good for catching their carry off guard.
Sion
Very tanky with high cc, he can go first and soak all the damage for you, your goal is to follow him up and cover the carry.
Alistar
Engage support with reliable knock up, you can easily follow up with your W.
Pyke
Early strength, he has good setup for you (both forms), good crowd control, avoid going late game tho, both of you falls off a lot.

This build makes you face tank a **** tons of burst while healing all of those damage, you will deal long term damage duel to your pet. Focus on W multiple champs (Hold on to your W if needed).
Common Kayn player's mistake: Buffer your W whily you are in Q animation, it's ****, don't do it, save your W for special occasion instead of wasting it.
You are just an average jungler, try not to duel Lee Sin/Yi/Graves/Khazix/Vi, you know how painful they are to deal with.
Use your E to gank through walls, even if there's no wall you can still use E's movement speed to gap close faster, you can Q while E to cross long area between walls.Clear path solo from both camps:
Q to wall to lower dashing time. Red Kayn Q + Gore + Smite deals 1k7 damage to dragon.
Gank early game to get your team snowballing, don't worry about which orb you get early on, you will earn a lot more orbs after 8 minutes, Kayn with red form is his powerspike, late game you fall off a lot against their adc. BUY PINK WARDS, your E can catch people off guard. Red Kayn needs no health, life steal is gonna replenish your hp bar -> buying raw armor/mr + damage + cdr is more valuable.
I usually take the high damage item path if possible, going full tank feels kinda weak, going the bruiser path without Serylda falls off late game a lot.
Patch 13.1b: With the AH and healing nerf for bruiser items, you don't have many item choices as before, Black Cleaver is a must after Goredrinker now, you may replace it with Shojin Spear if you are fed.
Patch 12.13: Your Q damage is mediocre now, try to play safe and use your Gore to restore missing HP, cover your carry's *** is the highest priority, say goodbye to your explosive slay-your-enemy-heal-like-a-god ultimate devil Rhaast gameplay.
Use your W wisely, try to knock up their front-line rather than wasting it on their carry if you are not 100% sure you can chase them.
Building tank feels better now, rather than the bruiser damage build.
If they have a camille, get a sterak's gage.
Climbed from Gold 1 to Diamond 5 solo queue with Kayn.
