Who is Urgot?

Urgot is a motherf... awesome guy which is mostly played on the Toplane.
Urgot is basically all you will ever need to have a) fun whilst b)terrify the enemies to their very existence.

To summarize Urgot:
You have PercentHP Damage on ur Passive (2-8%) up to six times recharging at a 30-5seconds cooldown.
You have a medium-range Slow (which is the only reason you might ever catch up to an enemy)and ur tool to make enemies cry in the lane in combination with your W.
You have a Shield on a fair cooldown which allows you to fire whilst moving at 3 rounds per second whilst auto-aiming to the nearest enemy champion at the cost of some movement speed.
You have the most useless gap closer in the world's history- but if you hit ... :D
You have the most terrifying Ult in the game leaving Darius' like a Magikarp's splash.

Runes

- Precision - This is the only truth that matters: a weapon aimed at your head.
- Press the Attack

Should be ur way to go Keystone at all time as it provides you with a huge amount of damage which scales with ur passive as well as lane harassment even early on.
- Triumph

'Why' you ask? Because Triumph is the only thing you can achieve whilst play Urgot.
- Legend: Tenacity

You neither need the Lifesteal nor the Attackspeed from the other options available as your actual attack damage is not that high to be rentable for lifesteal and you attack at a fixed rate of 3 Attacks per second during W.
/- Last Stand / Coup de Grace

Your first only option to decide on runes in my opinion:
You want to be an executioner or do you want to kick peoples *** pretending being Chuck Norris fighting 1-3?
Personally I recommend you to take Last Stand as the more reliable damage source in Teamfights.

- Resolve - Where will they run when the whole city burns?
//- Iron Skin / Mirror Shell / Conditioning

Choosing these depends on your overall matchup. Are you vs heavy early AD Poke (ADC, Pantheon or GP) take Iron Skin. Are you vs heavy AP Poke (Teemo, Rumble etc) take Mirror Shell. If you are sure to get through the laningphase w/o any problem but at best winning take Conditioning as your way to go Rune as it's the most valuable rune especially for late game.
//- Bone Plating / Demolish / Unflinching


To choose here you have to anticipate what you need most. Usually, you take Demolish to fix Urgot's inability to push tower... He is awesome at waveclearing but Urgot is 230% no good towerpusher w/o 3 Mountain Drakes at least...

Bone Plating should be your choice when encountering other Bruiser such as Jax, Irelia and Camille.

Unflinching is must have vs heavy CC Teams (not including Knockup-heavy) or else you'll have a hard time ever dealing damage.

Spells

Echoing Flames

Echoing Flames is Urgot's passive.

Urgot's six legs each conceal a shotgun that covers an arc, together forming a full circle of cover around him. Each shotgun has one shell and an individual reload timer.

The next basic attack in the direction of a loaded shotgun causes it to fire, dealing 40 / 50 / 65 / 80 / 90 / 100% AD (+ 2 / 3 / 4 / 6 / 8% of target's maximum health) physical damage to all enemies hit within, up to 25 - 365 (based on level) against monsters.

Echoing Flames deals 10% reduced damage to enemies it has damaged in the last 5 seconds, stacking up to 3 times.

Corrosive Charge
Corrosive Charge is Urgot's first ability.

Urgot launches a canister at the target location that explodes after 0.6 seconds, dealing 25 / 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 (+ 70% AD) physical damage and slowing all enemies hit by 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 / 65% for 1 second.

Purge

Purge is [[Urgot]'s second ability.

PASSIVE: Urgot's other abilities apply Purge to enemy champions for 5 seconds. Only one enemy champion can be marked at a time.

ACTIVE: Urgot autonomously attacks the nearest enemy at 3.0 attack speed without interrupting his movement, prioritizing enemy champions marked for Purging.

Attacks deal modified damage 12 (+ 20 / 24 / 28 / 32 / 36% AD), down to a minimum of 50 damage against minions, with only 33.3% on-hit damage and cannot critically strike.

At the moment of activation, he also shields himself by 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+ 30% bonus health) for 4 seconds, gains slow resist and ghost, but his base movement speed is reduced by 125 during attacks.

After 0.5 seconds, Urgot can reactivate Purge to end all effects, except any remaining shield.

Disdain

Disdain is Urgot's third ability.

After 0.25 seconds, Urgot dashes in the target direction, dealing 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+ 50% AD) physical damage to all enemies in the way and knocking them aside.

Urgot comes to a stop upon colliding with an enemy champion, flinging them over himself and stunning them for 0.75 seconds after they land.

Fear Beyond Death

Fear Beyond Death is Urgot's Ultimate ability.

FIRST CAST: Urgot fires a chem-drill forward that impales the first enemy champion struck, dealing 50 / 175 / 300 (+ 50% AD) physical damage, leashing them for 4 seconds and slowing them by 0% - 75% (based on target's missing health).

If the target is below 25% of their maximum health, Fear Beyond Death can be re-activated, and automatically does so after 4 seconds if the target is within the threshold.

SECOND CAST: Urgot begins channeling as he launches chains at the target, suppressing them on impact and reeling them in over 1.5 seconds, during which they are untargetable by other effects.

The channel can only be interrupted by Urgot's death. If the channel is successful, the target is executed and surrounding enemies are terrified for 1.5 seconds, also slowing them by 75%.

Skill Sequence

Leveling up Corrosive Charge first to ensure better waveclear, poke, slow.
Also to lock-on enemy Champions for Purge behind enemy minions for greater poke (especially with Press the Attack you'll trigger within a single second)

Leveling up Purge second to both ensure it to be castable more often due to the CD decrease in higher ranks but also to increase both, damage and shield value.

Leveling up Disdain as last ability as it is not that useful to you as your other spells are. To use it as a real gap closer it's too clunky and you only slightly reduce the CD of it while not really increasing its damage.

Leveling up Fear Beyond Death every time possible.

Unique Skills

Using your E Disdain at the right time lets you avoid several forms of CC whilst surprising let you be able to stun the enemy whilst being CCed.

This works exactly like Tristana's Rocket Jump or Ezreal's Arcane Shift in which when cast right let you still Jump to that location you desired to be with.

Urgot's Disdain can be extremely useful against:
Thresh's Death Sentence
Blitzcrank's Rocket Grab
Nautilus' Dredge Line
Riven's Broken Wings and Ki Burst
Cho'Gath's Rupture
Warwick's Primal Howl and Infinite Duress
Malzahar's Nether Grasp
Vayne's Condemn
Janna's Howling Gale and Monsoon
Jax' Counter Strike
and so much more than to be listed here

Remember that your Fear Beyond Death automatically reactivates after 4 seconds as long as the enemy falls under 25% of their HP even when you are CCed. Make use of this in Teamfights as you Teammates can bring down an enemy to that value whilst you ate the enemies CC.

Also, remember that you Fear Beyond Death will fear all Enemies around Urgot upon performed Execution. You can move a bit whilst grabbing the enemy towards you so position up in as many enemies as possible as long you won't face death as a result, before getting the Kill.

Items

Core


"Do not waste my time."

Your Itembuild usually focus on the one and only thing you need on Urgot to start to terrify most of the enemy laners. Black Cleaver

This Item provides you with some kind of Tankyness and the stats you need most: CDR, some AD, and Armorshred.

By simply obtaining this item you will outdamage almost every other toplaner with the same amount of items as you have. You stack Black Cleaver incredibly fast as you attack the enemy with 3 Attacks per Second during Purge and dealing an incredible amount of damage in almost no time thanks to Press the Attack
Additionally Black Cleaver stacks on multiple enemies due Echoing Flames

Second Core Item of yours will be the thing you have in your body... else you would let the enemies suffer to fear. It's the ice-cold Frozen Heart

It's not only the Armor you get and the Mana to sustain in Lane/Teamfights like forever... no, it also synergizes finishes your 40% CDR to let you cast Fear Beyond Death even more frequently.
On top of that, it also gives you the Attackspeedslow Aura to terrify not only melee Fighter/Bruiser but even ADCs.

Boots


"I must admit, I have a thing for... legs."

As for Boots you have to decide:
Do the enemies have an auto-attack heavy Team? Like Gnar Toplane, Xin Jungle + any ADC?
So your Choice is 100% Ninja Tabi
Do the enemies have a CC Heavy Team or 4 Ap Champions? Mercury's Treads is your way to go.
Do the enemies have a ****load of Slow and you don't necessarily need the resistances due whatever reasons you might have: Boots of Swiftness is your choice (reduces your self-slow from Purge as well.)

To finish your Build throughout the Match I recommend you to go for Frozen Mallet next right after the Frozen Heart - Frozen Mallet provides you with much HP, some AD and the ability to stay close to an enemy even after the 8.4 Slow Nerfs for ranged Champions and makes it easier for you to fully trigger all your Echoing Flames.

Death's Dance should do the job for guaranteeing your sustain especially in Teamfightsituation when your Echoing Flames deal massive AoE Damage and keeps you from high-burst thanks to it's passive.

Maw of Malmortius is your Choice when the enemies only have one APC w/o any high-burst damagespikes and you don't necessarily need MR in the first place.
Additionally to the Magic-shield it offers you Lifegrip - which increases your survivability like Death's Dance but also increasing your AD whilst still in combat.

Alternative Items


"Endless misery, mhm... Wonderful."

You usually should buy one of these Items BEFORE your Frozen Mallet if you meet the necessary requirement.

Adaptive Helm is a must-have vs certain Champions if you don't intend to lose fighting them as well as you don't intend to run from them. Champions like Teemo, Katarina, Rumble and Corki can be much more easily fought than with any other item you might buy on Urgot.

Thornmail is your way to go vs many on-hit Champions and Lifestealing Champions.
The attackspeedslow, once you got hit, will stack with the one of your Frozen Heart - as a result, these Champions will attack you significantly slower and hurt themself and reduce their healing.

Randuin's Omen is meant vs Crit Matchups.
Such as Yasuo, Corki, Gangplank + Crit ADCs
Tho- only recommended on 2-3 Critchampions- else Ninja Tabi and Frozen Heart should do their job.

Mortal Reminder is vs enemies with huge amount of Heal/Selfheal and a must-have vs Vladimir, Soraka and Dr. Mundo and also a good Idea vs Heavy Armor Tanks such as Malphite, Rammus, Maokai or Sejuani
