Who is this guy and why should I listen to him?
.
I've always liked nidalee but lately ive been playing her more and more to the point where I ONLY play nidalee if shes available. Why do I play her? Her kit is insane and shes practically the lee sin of ap champs.
Oh and BTW Im pretty bad at making guides so...
OH and Ive only worked on this guide for like 40ish minutes so its still not finished/IN DEPTH but it'll get there

Oh and that loss (4/5/11) was me trying an AD Nidalee Jungle so disregard that, or think of it as another ranked win!

For runes I usually go between 2 different sets.
The first set consists of standard AP Carry Runes. For Reds I bring
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration. For Yellows I go
Greater Seal of Armor. For Blues I go
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist. Lastly for Quints I run
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power. You would generally use these vs a balanced enemy team and an enemy AP Mid.
Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush
This one is special, it's for when you're up against an AD mid and it also helps if their jungle doesn't have alot of magic damage. I run
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration,
Greater Seal of Armor,
Greater Glyph of Ability Power and
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power. I do this for the fact im not afraid of the amount of magic damage they throw at me so i'll bring more AP to the table.

For masteries I usually go one way, 21/0/9 mostly because of the damage output and mana sustain. By running 21 in Offense, it gives me the damage everyone fears on a Nidalee, letting her spears or cougar form do insane damage. The 9 in Utility is there for the mana regen, buff sustain, and the extra movement speed when chasing or running (hopefully you're in cougar form).
I'll make this short and sweet. ALWAYS start with your W, your
Bushwhack lasts 4 minutes and you can place alot of them early with little mana problems with your masteries and it allows early map awareness and safety when placing them properly. Next I get my Q because
Javelin Toss is you main source of damage pre-6 and once you get the hang of crazy spear shots, thinking ahead and prediction you'll be doing alot of damage. Level 3 you want to get your
Primal Surge for early trades so you dont run out of health pots quickly. At this point you should Max your Q (spears) for maximum damage in human and cougar form. After maxing Q I usually go for my E (heal) because its great for sustain, helping out teammates, and when you're trying to get objectives without having to back.

Item itemization is practically the same more or less every time you play nidalee. You want to start
Doran's Ring for the early dominance and
Health Potion for healing to farm/harass as much as possible. Then you want to get your
Tear of the Goddess ASAP, this item is key for a nidalee for the mana and the fact she can get free mana from using cougar form abilities. You want to get your boots,
Archangel's Staff and
Rabadon's Deathcap after you get tear, this hopefully wont take you all game to accomplish. Final items can include an array from Heavy Magic Penetration such as
Void Staff, do more utility based items like
Morellonomicon.

Early Game: At level 1 you should have started W, proceed to
Bushwhack in the best places, either for safety of your lane, a jungler's buffs, or if you're invading. Laning phase should consist of farming as much as possible and soaking EXP. and get level 6. Since
Nidalee is ranged, don't forget to auto-attack the enemy when they're going for last-hits, because they'll be trying to get CS and not defend against you. Its ok to take a little damage because your
Primal Surge helps. If a
Bushwhack goes off and gives a jungler's position, make sure your team knows it because it will decide if they can go H.A.M or play safer.
Mid Game: At this point in the game you should be decently farmed and hopefully not losing mid. If you are losing mid, you'll be forced to stay there. If you are winning your lane or at least equal, THEN ITS TIME TO ROAM. Only roam at level 6 or higher with your
Pounce in
Aspect Of The Cougar form. Using your W ability lets you quickly help gank top or bottom lane. Make sure there aren't any wards in your path or your gank will be for nothing, so ask the lane you're ganking if there are any. Make sure when ganking to wait for enemy minions to be far enough away from you that you can get into the bushes without being seen.
Bushwhack the next bush to check for the enemy jungler/laner(s). Try to lead with cougar form abilities so you can try and finish them off with a
Javelin Toss with its long range. Be a nice guy and
Primal Surge your teammate before leaving if they need it!
Late Game: Well it's late game and you should AT LEAST have your core items
Sorcerer's Shoes,
Seraph's Embrace, and
Rabadon's Deathcap which costs 7575 gold (with the Homeguard upgrade). Try to group with your team and shove down turrets and get objectives along the way. Try to stay back in teamfights and throw good
Javelin Toss to widdle down the enemys' health and help by healing your teammates with
Primal Surge. This combo of long range poke and healing makes
Nidalee an amazing seige champion. When going for a baron, hopefully most of their team is dead, or at the least their jungler. Same as the seige tactic, throw
Javelin Toss's at Baron and
Primal Surge the player(s) tanking the damage from Baron. This will allow a quick
Baron with minimal damage taken, which in turn helps shoving after baron since no one has to back, unless they need
items.
TIPS WHEN SIEGING: Throw spears to hurt them and force them to recall to shove harder
Use your heal
Primal Surge on your auto-attacking allies, or yourself if you have to, to get the tower's health down quicker

First off Ill be going over your level 1 and your trap placement. There are several key places to put your traps down for the best survivability.
The 4 key ones you should have down before minions hit your lane are the 4
Bushwhack in the bushes directly east and west of your midlane. Try to position them so that they are equally far enough from each other and the walls to catch anyone walking into the bushes out of place. The trap next to the turret is good because you're trying to get them to step on it or avoid it, making their lane smaller and your lane control greater.
Nidalee's Cougar form W
Pounce can actually jump over ledges on the map. Manipulating and using these can help you gank or escape at crucial times. Places you can jump can be seen here.
TL;DR
THE RED X's ARE WHERE TO PUT
Bushwhack / TRAPS
AND THE RED LINES ARE WHERE YOU CAN JUMP OVER WITH YOUR

The key to throwing great spears relies in your critical thinking. It depends on your movements, the enemies movements, and the minions. Its hard to explain without watching so when I have time Ill make a video showing and explaining spears and how you want to use them. One good way to use spears is that the farther away you are when it hits the target, the more damage it does, so try throwing a spear and walking away from it (backwards).
So let's start out in human form because it's pretty straight forward. You have spears, traps, and a heal. One way of going at it, is by trapping around them (where minions wont break them) and while they're trying to maneuver around them you can auto-attack them alot, and if they trade a little damage with you, you can heal it back up, leaving you with a better outcome. Another way is just autoing them enough to where they'll try to do damage back to you so they'll come through the minion wave to get you, but you'll just spear them when they get in the open.
Cougar Form has very different abilities to use. An easy and best way to combo in cougar form is by
Pounceing onto them, then
Swipeing at them, and ending with a
Takedown. Why is this a good way? Well by pouncing onto them you've dealt damage and gotten closer to them, close enough in fact to swipe at them and by dealing all this damage your
Takedown will do increased damage based on how much health is missing, so by maximizing your damage THEN using your Q, you've dealt the most damage in cougar form.
