Why Should I Play Xerath?
Xerath is the Ascended Magus of the League of Legends and combines arcane powers with long-range artillery. If you're into mages who can dish out an insane amount of damage from a safe distance, then Xerath will be right up your alley. His unique playstyle of having exceptional range and powerful crowd control makes him a valuable asset to any team composition. Here are a few reasons you should play Xerath.

First of all, he is unrivaled in his ability to poke and harass enemies from very far away. His Arcanopulse (Q) allows him to cast an elongated energy shot, beam-like, which can hit several targets, making it amazingly good at zoning opponents, farming minions, and chipping down the enemy health bars before they get close. This allows him to control the pacing of the lane with his Eye of Destruction, applying constant pressure on his enemies. This long-range poke, when applied correctly, makes the enemies play cautiously, hence giving you more than an edge in the situations of lane and team fighting.

Yet another reason for playing Xerath is the presence of such huge potential for burst damage. This sets up a devasting combo if the enemy is stunned by a full charge of Xerath's E—Shocking Orb. Follow up with Arcanopulse and Eye of Destruction; he can quickly bring down squishy targets from a distance. His ultimate, Rite of the Arcane, increases the reach of his long-range capabilities as he fires off many shots across the map. This is a great ability for cleaning up straggling enemies or just helping out in a team fight from a distance, changing the course of a battle even if Xerath isn't directly involved.

Xerath is also incredibly proficient at team fights, where his area-of-effect abilities can do damage to multiple opponents simultaneously. His poke and zoning tools make it hard for an enemy team to engage without taking ample damage before the real battle has even begun. With proper positioning, Xerath can dish out a lot of damage around him while being relatively safe, making him one of the champions less likely to fall behind. The ability to take damage from a distance means his own team is whittling down opposition before fully collapsing in a fight, hence the higher rate of wins per fight.

In addition, nowhere on the map is without Xerath's Rite of the Arcane (R). Whereas many champions are required to be physically present to have an effect on a fight or secure a kill, Xerath can do it from halfway across the map. This makes him always a threat, for no enemy is safe even when they retreat back to base. This can't be understated psychologically. The enemy team remains on high alert, knowing Xerath has a chance to nail a strong shot from anywhere, and sometimes it will result in mistakes and misplays under pressure.

Another reason players are attracted to Xerath lies in his thematic appeal. As a creature of pure energy who ascended to godlike power, Xerath became the conductor of raw arcane magic. His sounds, animations, and lore give quite a compelling experience to those who like playing champions with epic and mystic vibes. The design of Xerath helps him feel strong, and the sound effects ensure that every cast of any ability seems to be impactful and satisfying.

Finally, Xerath has a rewarding learning curve. His abilities are easy to understand, but it will take time and precision to hit his skill shots, especially his ultimate. Xerath is very satisfying for those players who like champions that reward accuracy and strategic thinking. Much like Azir, his reliance on skill shots means that every game with Xerath is an opportunity to up the ante and hone one's mechanics, making him a never-ending source of new challenges and growth as a champion.

In the end, Xerath is a champion with good long-range poke, burst damage, and team fight control. The fact that he can influence the game from a distance, plus his thematic appeal as a very strong mage, makes him a compelling choice for players who enjoy strategic, high-impact gameplay. In addition, whether you're zoning enemies in lane, sniping them with your ultimate, or controlling the battlefield in team fights, Xerath really serves up the varied experience filled with satisfaction which can bring forth the victory that your team may need.

Pros:
    Incredible Long-Range Poke
    High Burst Damage
    Strong Area-of-Effect Damage
    Global Presence with Ultimate
    Excellent Zoning and Wave Clear
    Strong Scaling
    Rewarding Skill Expression

Cons:
    Skill Shot Reliant
    Lack of Mobility
    Squishy and Vulnerable
    High Mana Costs
    Weak Against Dive Compositions
    Long Cooldowns
    Vulnerable in the Early Game
