I’m going to start off by saying I’m no pro. I only play League with my mates. But this is the build I use to play when I’m playing top with 
Tahm Kench. But yeah this is what I find works.

Runes
Resolve Grasp of the UndyingThis is the most powerful rune in the game for
Tahm Kench. Because this rune gives you 3 stats, bonus damage with % of your HP that works well with your Q which also with Ravenous Hunter it will heal you. Finally the permanent increased HP DemolishThis is useful because as you build HP you do more damage to towers.
Second WindThis is another amazing rune, you heal as you take damage. Because of this rune as well as the
Doran's Shield you're basically unstoppable because of the double regeneration from level 1. You can trade with the enemy and kill them whilst being full HP. OvergrowthWith this, you get more HP from minions dying around you, which increases your demolish as well as making you tanky as anything.
Domination Cheap ShotBecause of the CC that Tahm has this is a must as you can just do more and more damage to people which is amazing for Tahm.
Ravenous HunterThis is a must because mixed with
Spirit Visage your healing is just outstanding you heal back so much the enemies won't be able to kill you.
