This item is a constant first item for Swain. Its unique passive works really well with Swain's abilities, and makes him a very tanky mage to play against.

+18 magic penetration
+45 flat movement speed
If you are doing well early game I would advise buying this item because it gives you magic penetration which makes Swain's abilities more powerful.

+80 ability power
+300 health
Liandry's goes well with Swain's passive and gives you some tank shred so you can kill more hefty opponents.

+45 armor
+10% cooldown reduction
Zhonya's is really useful for when you are in Ult to sort of give you a second life because you can continue to gain health as you are in the zhonya's active.

It is additional magic penetration and ability power. It will give you more damge, and more damage is always good for fights.

Rabadon's another damage item, this will give you stregth so you dont have to question as much fights you are taking, take the fights and know you are going to win them when you buy this item.

Ravenous Flock

INNATE - RAVENOUS: Swain can periodically target a nearby Stun icon immobilized enemy Champion icon champion to rip out a Soul Fragment from them, dealing them 20 − 105 (based on level) (+ 30% AP) Magic damage magic damage and Airborne icon pulling them 290-units towards him before a 0.25-second cast time. If the target would be brought past Swain, they are instead Airborne icon knocked back the excess distance.
Enemy champions also leave behind a Soul Fragment for 16 seconds upon Death death, which can be harvested after 1 second if Swain is near them.
INNATE - FLOCK: Swain's ravens bring nearby Soul Fragments to him, Heal power healing him for 4 / 5.5 / 7% (based on level) of his maximum health. Each Soul Fragment collected permanently increases his maximum health by 5.
