Why play Cho'gath in the mid lane?

Why not? He has heavy CC which stops champions like kat, akali, etc... From ruining the game, nice scaling all around, can assassinate plus he's a tank! That's pretty much the perfect champion, oh wait his ult... Now he's the perfect champion.

And I've finally done 100 games for you, chances of success with this build is surprisingly 90% that other 10% can mostly be because your enemy is Vayne, Vayne is cancer, aids and Teemo combined. But Teemo is Vayne combined with Teemo, so who's worse? Idk but playing Cho'gath will make you win most mid lanes. Also watch out for BoTRK.

What if I'm too squishy?

His ult stacks laugh in your face, squishy is not the word for this lit- big guy.
You won't even have to build HP to not be squishy! (Mind you it's still advised.)

Why Liandry's?

Why not? I mean, every attack (With E turned on) applies it, making farming and clearing waves a lot easier. Same thing with Rylai's except completely different. By that I mean Liandry's is more defensive, or for chasing.
