The AP, Mana, and Health on this item are all aces. Makes you a little bit more of a threat in fights, and helps keep you alive, so you can continue to keep your teammates alive.
The perfect item when facing teams with lots of AP.
Also a great item against AP teams. Less about survival than Banshee's Veil, and more about damage. Your choice. Definitely pick over Banshee's if your team is strong AP.

I've rarely picked this. But as support, it's your job to help your teammates out before thinking of yourself. So if AD and lifesteal are what they need, damn the excessive CDR, buy this for them.
Helpful for increasing your damage and the health it provides, but I'd probably only consider getting this if your team has trouble with the enemy team escaping. If you're looking to do a little more damage, maybe even consider pairing this with
Liandry's Torment.
