Champion Build Guide
Shen Basics
Empowered Q Notes
When playing Shen, you should optimize the position of your spirit blade-- as it has the ability to slow the enemy if it passes through them giving you: attack speed, damage, and range to counter act their play. Which gives you lots of power to kite them out to only give you the chance to win the fight in the end.
Just like the map, always keep an eye on your spirit blade IF your blade is in a lane with a team mate(s). Let's say you just left the bot lane after an unsuccessful gank, and your spirit blade is still there. However, your bot lane overstays. You are maybe going to your red/blue -- too far away help them while they get jumped by the enemy bot. In this case you CAN help them turn the fight around IF they are near your spirit blade. IF they are, then you can use W to enable spirit refuge to block all attacks comming at your allies for a couple of seconds which can make the difference!
Some easy ways to utilize empowered Q is:
1) Aligning your Q to go through enemies + hit your empowered Qs off + then E afterward + Q as it will go off cd(making sure it goes through them).
2) E into enemy, then go behind them to pull your Q behind them to activate the empowered Q. A faster approach here is to Q, then E right after wards or flash taunt / taunt flash as the Q will land where ever you stop the taunt.
Taunting in team fights
When taunting in team fights, try your best in taughting more than 2 people to get the maximum ammount of CC in. It can be tempting to try to go for the person that is lowest health etc. In most cases when the fight is even or ahead and when you see 2+ people lined up-- it's better to occupy them off away from your team mates while your other team mates do the damage and you front line. Thus, take advantage of the max range of shen's taunt- in many cases you can taunt multiple enemies away from attacking team mates giving your team mates time to attack, refresh on CDs, or reposition.

Clearing
Clear speed for shen 1-6 is not bad-- With season 13 jungle changes, shen jungle is even more viable! If you take advantage of the lazy Q technique.
For example, activate Q before walking into clear camps, so the CD is activated before you start clearing it. Meaning, after you're done with the 3 empowered Q attacks: the Q is back up again-- giving you 3 more empowered Qs as soon as your done with your current 3 empowered Qs.
Global Role
On another note, Shen is very useful for initiating fights and saving people/ turning around losing fights across the map. Which gives him the capability to becoming a great champ to carry your team with.
Early vs Mid / Late
Like any other Jungler, in the early phase your role is to balance farming with ganking other lanes to get them snowballing. If you spot enemy jungler in other side of map while you are at drag / rift that is up-- you have a good chance at securing it if you know there are no wards + your side lanes are pushed up. Better chance of securing after you have bami.
Mid game (3+ items OR 20 mins +)
Farm and ALWAYS keep an eye on map / team health bars. If a fight breaks out, ult ONLY if the fight is savable to your team to turn the fight around. Otherwise DO NOT ult and look to push lanes / getting objectives.
If ult is CD, farm and gank lanes that are pushed toward your side. As mentioned you can try to sneak objectives if enemy jungler is opposite side of an objective that is active.
Late game (5+ items OR 30 mins +)
play around OBJ / make sure to get a red trinket on every back to have vision control around obj. At this point, shen ULT cd has shortened a bit so you can save team mate mistakes and turn them around for potential wins and even baron / drag trade offs!
Another thing shen can do is split push and bait the other team while your team plays near an upcoming objective. Do this ONLY when your ult is up and you have vision on and awarness on the other team to back away and ult in to counter the fight at drag/ baron to secure it WHILE pushing out a side lane to apply map pressure. To pull this off, communicate with your team what you are doing and what you want them to do.
In terms of awarness-- Using the "Select ally 1 -4" hot keys is incredibly useful to toggle an ongoing fight without hovering to your map!
