Vayne
Unless there's some new or newly buffed champion that you don't want to fight, I'd ban her every time. She might be somewhat rare but she's worth banning.
She's made to counter slow, tanky melee characters with her range, mobility and percent health damage.
You can't even poke her down because she likely has life steal and will build more, so she'll just heal the damage from Q, which does percent health damage, which won't be much against her.
Champion Build Guide
Maximum Dosage (R)
Don't try too hard to get maximum value out of this. By that I mean don't try to wait until you're almost dead to use it. The 20% missing health isn't that big of a deal, and if you wait too long to use it, you'll usually just end up dead either just before or after using it. Usually around half health is best, especially against a big team fight or people with a strong ultimate. Also don't force yourself to fight just because you gain damage, you can use the speed to run away for a bit and let some of your health get back before you go in. You can also use it to get away even if you're full health if you were attacking a turret alone and the whole enemy team comes, just ult and run before they start slowing and stunning you, don't give them a chance to catch up. If they catch it's not gonna save you.
If you are dueling or chasing someone down, do remember the damage and speed will help you get a kill and sustain you if you use it somewhat early during the fight.
Heart Zapper (W)
Use it early in a fight, maybe even as you're running in if they're gonna throw abilities at you, letting it take more damage and using it on them will give you a decent heal to help you live through the fight. you don't want to wait until you're low and running away.
Infected Bonesaw (Q)
Your best ability, you can use it to poke down enemies, deal extra damage in a fight, chase, kill a low health enemy running away, slow down a ganker so you can run away, help to last hit minions, especially cannon minions, and is your only option when low health and trying to farm against a dangerous lane that won't let you get up to melee range without killing you. It's also great damage against a tanky character.
Blunt Force Trauma (E)
It's great for helping you last hit minions, clearing waves, dealing damage in a fight, and dealing damage to a tower. For maximum effectiveness in a fight, against minions, or when attacking a tower, use it right after an auto attack. Also when you deal a killing blow against a minion, it shoots out of course, and that damage is counted as an auto attack, so it gives you grasp of the undying without having to walk up to them and attack.
Goes where He Pleases
It's okay, it's nice to grab the orb if you can, but don't risk taking more damage than it's worth, losing last hit on dragon or any objective really, or letting a teammate die or letting a champion get away from you or your team because you went out of position when you didn't really need it.
Similar champions that I'd recommend as alternatives in case mundo ever gets banned or taken.
Garen
Cheapest alternative, can be built tanky, or just as a bruiser. Has good sustain, a very useful alt, a boost to his own speed as opposed to cleaver, which also silences the enemy hit. Good aoe attack for pushing lanes, especially if you build any attack speed and/or damage. His spin does get better with higher attack speed, but attack speed runes don't count toward that, only items.
Tahm Kench
I'd recommend playing him if he's ever free to try him out, if only to better understand how he works when playing him. He's a bit pricey, but I would crafting him if you ever get shards, or just buy him if he's ever on a good sale and you're willing to spend money. Only do so after trying him though, he does play very different from mundo, he's actually a lot more complicated than he seems and you might not enjoy the gameplay as much.Very different champion that might be worth learning as a counter
Vayne
Against another mundo or especially tahm kench, picking vayne can be a good counter to them throughout the whole game. Especially if no one on your team is likely to build anything that does true damage or percent health damage. Even better if someone else, jungler or support, is already playing a tanky character anyway.
The laziest and cheapest option is to use a red ward in your tribush near your turret to avoid getting ganked, it's also the best and only read option you have if you're getting pushed in.
if you're the one pushing in, you could place it in the river bush or the rift herald/baron pit if you're putting on enough pressure to keep them from contesting the area. The red ward reveals any stealthed wards, so you'll know they don't have any idea what's going on down there.
I mostly use stealth wards in the river bush, or near objectives like baron and dragon, in the bushes towards their base, or just the surrounding bushes in case the others are already warded. Don't spend too much on red wards, but don't ignore them either, try to keep one up most of the game to help your team keep vision of the map.
