It may deter some, though the captcha is really simple - it's just a checkbox. Sometimes it makes you pick a bunch of images but that is rare from our testing. It also only applies to guests so it's not going to affect any voters we already had.
I'm not sure it would be a good idea to remove it outright, so the alternative would be to only show the captcha once every x votes or something along those lines. We might still do that down the road but, from the voting patterns we've seen, guests tend to only vote on the one guide they end up using.
The volume of organic votes that have been coming in has been really great already, so it doesn't seem like we need to ease up on the protections. It seems there are already more than enough undeterred guest voters :)

Oh wow, awesome Matt :) So happy for you and everyone at MobaFire. What about adding a "did you want to keep track of your favourite guides?" sort of call to action if someone makes multiple votes in a session, that invites them to become a member?
How does guest voting mix with forced comment to vote? Just curious. Was going to upvote someone's guide just then but it had C2V so I didn't.
@ jhoijhoi Guest voting is not blocked by C2V, so technically if you encounter a C2V guide as a member you can log out and vote as a guest without comment. Effectively it would make C2V a massive handicap for authors if it did apply to guests, because you'd lose out on all the guest voting since they can't comment. It just would have been too messy. So your member votes are still protected by C2V as before, but your new guest votes are not. This seems to render C2V pointless but, it does still protect your member score, so if your guest score falls below your member score then it may have still benefited you.
I may be slightly slow to understand but ... do we see somewhere in our account the 2 pools of votes with stats showing something like : 200 guest votes 70% happy / 35 register votes 95% happy or we can only see the better of both ? (in this case would be the 35 register at 95% happy I presume)
Another detail not really important but just curious : can we choose to show the worse result ? (thinking 200 guest votes at 70% is better for whatever the reason)
