If you get an early kill, top lane is gg for the enemy. Of course armor pen has it's use over the course of the entire game, but I find that starting off with 100 flat ad and landing a good spinning crit will easily win you the lane. Loosing 300hp in half a second is something to be scared off when you have 800hp in total.
