If you do not feel like reading much skip to Aatrox Theory. Included are a few tips that help to maximize your dps and clear your jungle--sometimes the enemies--as quick as possible :D!
STATS TO FOCUS ON
When Playing
Aatrox you have three main focus points: Attack Speed, Slows, and Survivability (armor, magic resistance, and health).
1. Attack speed determines Aatrox's Damage from
Blood Thirst/
Blood Price proc's. Every third hit
Aatrox will either gain health or deal extra damage, so the faster this happens the quicker he deletes opponents or the quicker he regains health.
2. Slows are crucial on
Aatrox. He is primarily a close range champion who relies on auto attacks. Therefore you need to make sure you opponent remains in range. This can be achieved through various Items.
Stalker's Blade - Bloodrazor uses chilling smite to steal 20% run speed from the enemy champ while
Frozen Mallet reduces enemy run speed on hit. These are just a few examples of useful items which will be explained in detail below.
3. Lastly
Aatrox needs to be tanky. I'm sure you have all been deleted from the rift by a womboooo combooo before your
Bloodthirster or
Blade of the Ruined King could come in handy. That is why
Aatrox needs health, armor and magic resistance. Higher defenses allow time to regain health. More importantly
Aatrox will need time to build 5 stacks of
Blood Well. Because
Aatrox often enters a battle with zero stacks he will need to be tanky enough to endure till he can secure 5 stacks and go super saiyan with Blood Rush.

Key tips resulting in successful
Aatrox gameplay.
REMEMBER: Aatrox NEEDS 5 stacks of Bloodwell to maximize Damage, Attack speed, and to allow for Resurrection.
1. Early Jungle levels 1-3. never use
Blood Price. keep your health up by spamming
Blood Thirst.
2. once level 3 always begin jungle camps, even champion fights, using
Blood Price. My first few games I thought it was difficult to get 5 stacks of
Blood Well, until I realized your mainly stacking it with
Blood Price.
3. Jungle level 3 and beyond. Start fight with
Blood Price gain 5 stacks of
Blood Well and then immediately switch to
Blood Thirst. the increase attack speed will compensate for the health you forgo from using
Blood Price to start the battle.
4. you cannot run from one camp to another without losing your stacks of
Blood Well, therefore, Make sure to maintain your stacks of
Blood Well by pulling jungle mobs close to the next camp as well as leaving
Dark Flight or
Blades of Torment up to quickly start the next fight and maintain your in combat status. This is crucial to clearing jungle quickly.
5. Always start fights with
Blood Price whats the point of healing if you are at full health??
6. Early ganks welcomed. Aatrox has a great knockup and slow. BUT Aatrox is late game scaling. only go for securable ganks. If you have any doubt continue clearing jungle.
7. Counter jungle is fairly easy if you Keep
Dark Flight up. If you can keep both
Dark Flight and
Blades of Torment up and have eyes--to keep watch on enemy laners--counter jungling should be extremely safe.
8. Buy
Stalker's Blade - Bloodrazor first and
Frozen Mallet second.
9. Whenever you have an extra 300g buy a
Dagger. Literally no matter what your building no matter what the point in the game, If you have 300g and space then buy a
Dagger.
