We'll probably see it done at some point though, only takes both of them to make it through bans and for neither to be first picked by blue side, then they can both be first picked together for red side. Still, that would have to be a major **** up for blue side I imagine. But depending on how long they both remain strong/viable for, and whether they're priority picks or not, we're probably bound to see it happen eventually. Or maybe sooner than we expect because it isn't as broken in practice as it sounds on paper and we all walk away from the game disappointed.
But yeah if you want to deny the combo from red side then you have to pre-emptively ban/first pick one away, you can't react to them picking one by picking the other because blue side can easily pick both at once if they want to. And unless Taric is so broken he's pick/ban no matter what (which isn't too unlikely having said that), it's not too unlikely that teams will let both through, IMO. Bigger mistakes have been made.

Why's Taric considered super broken? I definitely get that he is strong, but I don't ban him or quake in my booties when I see him on the enemy team, unlike when I see an, I don't know, Ekko, Poppy or Maokai for example.
Probably the unexpected angles he can stun from combined with the rushdown with no counterplay he can create with his ult and any hard engager like Malphite.
