D-Blade. Have you seen his healing? Yeah get a kill before 6 or you are screwed. Just bait out his abilities before going in as they have a long cooldown before he gets items. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Annie
D-Blade. Just don't let her stun you and she won't win the fight. Also watch out for her R. If she wastes her stun on minions go for an all in, just don't tower dive as it is pretty easy for her to get it back up. Take cleanse if you are big poosy. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Ahri
D-Blade. Watch out for her burst with E, a minion can take the e for you also so if you are going to trade be behind minions, or just windwall. This is a matchup where you would get W at level 3. Might want to take Cleanse if you are big poosy. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Akali
D-Blade. Look at what keystone she is running. If she is running Elect she is looking to all in. If she is running fleet she is looking to sustain (duh.) Her damage early is nuts and if she goes in for a basic Q+Passive Proc start just poke back. If you can windwall one of her q's early she won't be able to win a trade because of how much energy she needs. If you can bait out her W you can go for an all in. Fight in a minion wave to give you a easier chance at dodging her abilities. Taking Oracle Lens is a good idea after laning phase so you can see what she is doing while in Shroud. Take Conq.
Anivia
D-Blade. Dodge or windwall her abilities and you chilling. Unless she hits all of her skill shots you really can't lose this matchup or even a trade. Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Aurelion Sol
D-Blade. Pretty easy matchup, just play agro and you win lane. Warn your team of his roams. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Azir
D-Blade. There will be times where you need to just give up a cs or two to not lose half your health bar. once you get ult you can ask for help from your jungler and all in. You can all in if he misplays but don't go too far up, because he can R you into his tower for a free kill. A good Azir will destroy you. Outscales you. Take Fleet.
Brand
D-Blade. Brand is one of those matchups that seem easy on paper, but can get hard in game. His combo can easily drop to you half and if you stay his jungler can finish you off. If you get any sort of lead shove it down his throat, deny him cs, and constantly trade. Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Cassiopeia
D-Blade. With her new way of playing and her w buffs she is a veryyyyy hard matchup. She has amazing self peel and wins all long trades. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Corki
D-Blade. You stop Corki's Q and R so just abuse your W (Wind Wall) and you win. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Darius
D-Blade. Have double armor runes and just give up cs if you need to. You can back for a cloth armor. You really don't want to give him a kill as he will hard snowball lane and the game. Do not be too passive though, as you can still trade with him, but it's a different story if he E's you as at that point it will be VERY bad for you. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Diana
D-Blade. This match up isn't that hard, she can't really all in Pre-6 and even then if you have nado you can just R her and she can't continue. Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Ekko
D-Blade. Windwall his Q, deny him getting cs and get him behind in levels/gold, you get your ult first and then just all in. Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Fiora
D-Blade. A good Fiora will win every single time. She will be able to W your nado and just kill you every damn fight. Just don't fight without your jungler, even then still scary with Fiora's outplay potential. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Fizz
D-Blade. Another 50/50 matchup. Just play it smart. Watch out for his burst and build MR, like Wit's End. If they aren't good it's yours. Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Galio
D-Blade He will go aftershock or DH, beat you in trades, have amazing gank setup, outroam you, and out team fight you. Basically you just lose very hard. Take Conq.
Gangplank
D-Blade. Watch out for his poke and try to get an advantage by roaming, etc. If you can jump on him without flash just drop him. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Heimerdinger
D-Blade. Use his turrets as mobility against him. He will poke you a bit but it won't be enough to force you out of lane, especially if you can keep the pressure up on him. You should always have lane priority in this matchup. Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Irelia
D-Blade. Level 1 watch out for her passive because if she has max passive stacks she will always beat you. The big part of this matchup comes down to how you use your windwall. Pre-6 use your windwall on her e and run her down. Level 6 don't waste your windwall on just an e because she has a lower e cooldown and can full engage. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Jayce
D-Shield or D-Blade. He's pretty scary, has a lot of poke which will be annoying. He also has his melee form where he can still end your life. His abilities make it so hard for you to all in. Look to just farm with Q and call for ganks. Take Conq.
Kassadin
D-Blade. He will attempt to poke lvl 1 by starting Q and will only go for CS with Q. Poke him if he tries to auto for cs. Deny him as much CS as you can. He really can't do much pre-6 unless he has his jungler. He will outroam you and outsustain you if he goes D-Shield + Fleet. Most Kassadin players take Teleport so at least you have that advantage 1v1 if you take Ignite (which you should **NEARLY** always mid). Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Katarina
D-Blade. Katarina is very passive lvl 1, as she doesn't really have any way of doing anything. She will just farm with Q and setup for lvl 2. Zone her off cs early as much as you can try to poke her with Q or go in if she tries to get farm. Get away from her daggers until you have an item advantage. You have a massive advantage with a minion wave, but so does she. Make sure she doesn't have E up so she can't dodge your nado, or just beyblade her so she can't react fast enough (watch out for Faker out here dodging it). Once she goes for all-ins at level 6 you can windwall her R and if she keeps her r going after that like a sped just smack her and get as much damage off as you can. Also if you have nado you can just E+Q her and kill her if she doesn't have Shunpo reset. Good chance you win just watch out for her all-ins and watch out for ganks. Outscales you depending on comps. Take Conq.
Kayle
D-Blade. She is a very easy matchup early, so shut her down as much as you can so she can't scale as hard. you can deny her so much xp and cs pre-6. Outscales you. Take Conq.
LeBlanc
D-Blade. She will just beat you! You can windwall her Q and E but she will usually just bait it then go back in and solo kill you. Take Conq and probably exhaust.
Lissandra
D-Blade. You can't really all in once she gets 6, she can ult you under tower and get a free kill. The only time you can all in really is level 2 when you have ignite to secure the kill or are way ahead of her. Her aftershock and ability to root you early on ruins any chance of all-ining. Also watch out for her jungler, her gank setup is amazing. Outscales you. Take Conq and cleanse.
Lux
D-Blade. Just dodge her stun with E and Windwall her abilities, only thing you can't windwall is her R. Outscales you. Take Conq as you might as well get the extra damage late in this easy lane.
Malzahar
D-Blade or D-Shield. Really annoying. He can shove you out of lane and just ruin you. Don't try to trade unless you get out his passive or have your jungler with you. He can be very easy to kill if he messes up. His R is the real annoying thing though, if you plan to all in him you will need a QSS. Outscales you. Take Fleet.
Neeko
D-Blade. Don't think of it as a Lux matchup, her stun goes through minions and lasts longer the more it goes through. Just make sure you W or dodge it. I don't recommend going for roams into her as she will destroy your turret with her W passive. Outscales you. Take Fleet or Conq (Depends on team comp).
Orianna
D-Blade. You want to wait choosing your first ability until you know what she started. If she started her shield, you want to start Q and shove her in to deny her CS. If she started Q and plays aggressive, you can start E and go for early trades. You can ruin any poke she has with your windwall. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Pantheon
D-Blade or D-Shield. This matchup is pretty much unwinnable if he knows how to abuse you in lane. Don't attempt to poke, he will all-in you. You may be able to live this matchup if you all in as his ultimate doesn't help him in 1v1's in lane. Take Fleet.
Qiyana
D-Blade. You can windwall most of her damage and stop her from comboing you level 3. The biggest part of this matchup is watching for her roaming and stopping her from setting up ganks by getting vision all throughout the river. Take Conq.
Renekton
D-Blade. Just be passive and get CS with your Q. There is no real way to win this lane. Call for ganks but since it is a top lane matchup you can't be relying on that. If they pick it mid you can easily win, they can't run you down as much and if you freeze you can call for ganks and run him down. Take Conq.
Riven
D-Blade. Only trade with your shield up but don't let her stun you or you lose the fight. You only win fights pre-3 honestly, after that point its over. Once she is level 3 only fight when she has w and e down. Even level 6 she can beat you if you play it incorrectly. Buffs make her even worse to play against! Take Conq.
Rumble
D-Blade. He kinda just runs at you and beats you. You can windwall his e and r. Take Conq.
Ryze
D-Blade. He can't beat you early but he just secures CS then first backs tear and clears waves then looks for roams and fights in river. You also can't really run him down because he will just root you with E-W. You will never be able to kill him without a gank but he will never be able to kill you without a gank. You can windwall his Q at least. Take Conq
Sett
D-Blade. The boss just beats you. Maybe if he misses e and w's early you can win but even then he will just out auto you and win. Take Conq.
Sylas
D-Blade. This champ just beats you 1v1. All you can do is try and windwall he E2 because it actually does a surprising amount of damage. If they play correctly ou just auto lose. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Talon
D-Blade. Dodge his Ws and don't underestimate him. Avoid him bursting you down level 2/3, he can easily 100-0 you. You definitely need windwall level 3. If you are going to windwall his W, windwall it on the way back. This stops his passive proc and has a way better chance of succeeding than trying to windwall his W right when he uses it. He will always be roaming because of his E so just abuse turret plating to get ahead of him even if he gets a kill on the roam. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Twisted Fate
D-Blade. Might as well start e and prevent him from farming, pretty easy match up. Just ping your team when he R's as he will be looking to roam. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Veigar
D-Blade. His stun cage or e is by far his most annoying ability. He doesn't have any mobility besides flash so just chase him down and watch out for his E. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Vel'Koz
D-Blade You just windwall all his abilities besides R. He will outscale you though. Take Conq.
Viktor
D-Blade. You should just win this early. You can windwall his Q and E but he has better gank setup and outscales you pretty hard. Take Conq.
Vladimir
D-Blade. Don't do anything stupid. Start E and be as aggressive as you can be when you have vision. He has longer cooldowns before he gets items. His W has a 28s cooldown lvl 1. After he uses that just all in. Also avoid him using Q on you when his Bloodthirst (secondary) bar is red. A good Vladimir will never try to trade and will just focus on farm, but if they try to trade you will win it before he has CDR. Outscales you. Take Conq.
Zed
D-Blade. Play smart, he has a lot of poke with his abilities but if you get low just back as his will just all in and kill you, but you could one for one with ignite. Hold your nado until his R animation is over, he will always land behind you. After that, throw your nado and if you have r up attempt to airblade him and win the 1v1. His pre-3, but if you guys go even until 6 be very careful of all ins. Little lower time for ganks since the W cd buffs, plus more poke potential from him, plus your champion is just nerfed out of its mind so you lose! Outscales you. Take Conq.
Ziggs
D-Blade. You just kind of beat him because he doesn't really deal that much damage early. If he for whatever reason puts himself in a position to be ran down then you can do just that. Take Conq.
Zoe
D-Blade. She hurts, like, a lot. Just don't let her sleep you and you'll be fine. You have the better level 6 since your ult gives you a shield and damage. A good Zoe is tough though. Outscales you. Take Conq and cleanse.

Hi! I am Blood, I main Yasuo and have learned a lot about his kit, what to build, and how you should start. Today I will be showing you the builds I've tested myself and with others. If you ever need help with anything not in this guide join this discord, I always check this channel and will respond as soon as possible! Thank you for clicking on my guide!
+ Has one of the best all in potential at level 2/3/6. + Has amazing powerspikes with items. + Good synergy with champions that can make enemies airborne. + Is great in all matchups once you get good at him. + Very mobile with minions and jungle camps.
The amount of mobility this champion has is absurd. Once you learn to walldash you can easily get anywhere. But keep in mind he can't use Sweeping Blade on nothing unlike Lunge making Yasuo vulnerable to ganks. You also have a great way of negating poke with Yasuo's double passive Way of the Wanderer. If you are constantly walking around you will always have your shield up. This also gives you double Critical Strike chance at the cost of -20% Critical Strike damage.
CONS
- Completely countered by CC, resulting in you needing to spend gold or a rune slot. - Tough to master, but very worth it once you do. - Has some awful matchups that can get picked if you get first pick for Mid/Top. - Very vulnerable without minions, making Yasuo very gankable.
You get hard countered by CC. If you are against a Malzahar, Ryze, Annie, or Rammus, make sure you have either Legend: Tenacity or buy Quicksilver Sash. Once you get used to those matchups/champions though you will learn their ranges for their cc and can easily avoid situations where you would get cc'd and die. If you are easily tilted make sure you /mute all right as you enter the game or you will eventually end up getting frustrated and possibly throw the game.
Conqueror is in a great state right now. It gives you early pressure and scales into late game. Fleet Footwork is a 1% kind of rune. You won't go this rune every game or even close to that, but if you are in completely unwinnable matchups like Pantheon or Renekton it is a great rune. The rest of the runes aren't really usable.
Triumph is just the best option here. It can save you in clutch situations and gives you a little bit more gold. Overheal is also an amazing option in this tree. It can help a lot against burst comps and can block upwards of 3,000 damage a game. Presence of Mind just gives Yasuo nothing.
I think all of these are viable. Legend: Alacrity gives you a better early game and also gives you the option of selling Berserker's Greaves late game with the Blade of the Ruined King build. Legend: Tenacity is also a great option if their team comp calls for it. If they have a lot of point and click cc I wouldn't be against this rune. Legend: Bloodline scales amazingly into late game. This rune gives you a free 12% lifesteal.
Taste of Blood is the best option in this tree. It helps you sustain early game and also gives you a bit of healing late game. Cheap Shot doesn't really do as much as either of the other runes would. Sudden Impact gives you a little but of early pressure but that isn't worth what Taste of Blood gives you.
There is not a single build where you won't take attack speed in the first rune slot. The attack speed will always be useful on Yasuo. In the second slot you will take adaptive damage to make it easier to CS and have better trades. Change the last slot according to matchup. Zed? Armor. Ahri? Magic Resistance.
FLASH: This is a nessecity on nearly every champion in the game. If you don't take flash you will die to ganks more often and miss out on so many kills. You also miss out on beyblading and keyblading.
IGNITE: Ignite is one of those things nearly every mid laner trying to get kill pressure takes. Unless you are a mage you take this. It gives you extra damage, vision, and healing reduction. The healing reduction will screw over champions like Dr. Mundo halting his heals.
EXHAUST: If you are in a matchup like Zed or Talon and aren't good into them, you can take this to ruin their combo damage. It's also great as a Summoner Spell for ADC Yasuo.
CLEANSE: This is great into heavy CC team compositions. If you are into a laner like Annie or Lissandra this can be a great pickup.
TELEPORT: This is great for top laners, which means it is great for you if you are top. This makes you a splitpush threat and lets you roam bot lane just by teleporting down.
Way of the Wanderer (Passive)
Yasuo's Critical Strike Chance is doubled. Additionally, Yasuo builds toward a shield whenever he is moving. The shield triggers when he takes damage from a champion or monster.
This gives Yasuo his infamous double critical strike chance that makes his build what it is. This is also what gives Yasuo his o' so hated shield. After walking around he builds up Flow, which once he has full flow and takes damage from a champion or monster it will proc a shield that blocks incoming damage.
Steel Tempest (Q)
RANGE: 475/900 COOLDOWN: 0.4-0.133
Thrusts forward, dealing 20/45/70/95/120 (+100% Attack Damage) physical damage. On hit, grants a stack of Gathering Storm for 6 seconds. At 2 stacks, Steel Tempest fires a whirlwind that knocks Airborne.
After two Q's you get what is known as Gathering Storm, a whirlwind that makes enemies airborne if hit, which means you can use Last Breath. This ability also has great combos if you combine it with Sweeping Blade.
Wind Wall (W)
RANGE: 400 COOLDOWN: 26 / 24 / 22 / 20 / 18
Yasuo creates a gust of wind that travels in the target direction over 0.25 seconds to form a wall in front of him. The wall slowly drifts forward 50 units over 3.75 seconds, blocking all enemy projectiles except turret attacks.
This ability is an absolute lifesaver. You can block anything from ranged basic attacks to Flawless Duet to Charm. But it can also save your teammates if you use it correctly.
Sweeping Blade (E)
RANGE: 475 COOLDOWN: 0.5s/0.4s/0.3s/0.2s/0.1s
Yasuo dashes a fixed distance toward a target enemy, dealing magic damage. Each Sweeping Blade cast increases the next dash's base damage by 25% for 5 seconds, up to 50%.
This is all of Yasuo's mobility. You can use this to dash over walls using other champions, minions, or monsters. You can use this to help trade and back up, or when you are having a good day can use it as your main damage and build AP.
Last Breath (R)
RANGE: 1400 COOLDOWN: 80/55/30
Blinks to an Airborne enemy champion, dealing physical damage and holding all Airborne enemies in the area in the air. Grants maximum Flow but resets all stacks of Gathering Storm.
This is what makes you such a tank destroyer, your critical strikes gain 50% Armor Penetration. This also goes amazingly with other champions that can knock people up, such as Malphite and Wukong.
You upgrade Steel Tempest (Q) twice before Wind Wall (W) in most matchups unless you severely need Wind Wall (W). There are also matchups where you want to get E first, such as Lux or Annie to start trading early.
Phantom Dancer > ATTACK SPEED AND A SHIELD
This is a very safe item. You get a big shield early game without the need of hexdrinker or anything like that. This can also be run with Fleet to make you even safer into a harder matchup or matchup that you do not know well. This is currently the best first item.
Statikk Shiv > ATTACK SPEED AND DAMAGE
I feel that currently there is a big divide between the builds. This is a great item when you are ahead, but otherwise, I don't recommend it. This is definitely a snowball item, nothing more.
Infinity Edge > ATTACK DAMAGE AND CRITICAL STRIKE
The butter to your bread for Yasuo. This item gives you 80 attack damage, 50% critical strike chance (due to Yasuo's double passive Way of the Wanderer), and some nice extra critical strike damage to counteract his passive critical strike damage nerfs.
Blade Of The Ruined King > PERCENT HP DAMAGE AND LIFESTEAL Blade of the Ruined King is now one of the best items for any melee champion. They recently buffed the item from 8% to 12% and as expected it makes it an amazing item for Yasuo again. This item powerspike is massive. If the enemy you are attacking has 1000 current hp you get 120 bonus damage.
-OR-
Sterak's Gage > HEALTH AND TENACITY
Gives you tenacity which is great for Yasuo as he is hard countered by CC. This also gives you a nice Attack Damage boost. You also get a shield equal to 75% of your bonus health (337HP if you only have Sterak's Gage.) Sadly does not stack with Phantom Dancer so don't build them together.
Frozen Mallet > HEALTH AND A SLOW
Gives you a massive health increase and a nice slow. This slow helps you kite or just run. Also is a great utility for your team and makes you much tanker. I rarely build this item but when I do it's very nice. Much better with Phantom Dancer to make you tanker.
-OR-
The Bloodthirster > ATTACK DAMAGE AND LIFESTEAL
Just a great item on any ADC. Gives you great lifesteal and attack damage to further your damage. Also gives you a free Overheal shield without even having the rune.
Death's Dance > RESISTANCES AND BLEED PASSIVE
This item is absolutely broken. You get resistances to make you tanker and bleed which can save you in clutch moments. This helps you against burst and fed enemies.
-OR-
Wit's End > ATTACK SPEED AND MAGIC RESIST
This is a great item to rush in hard matchups like LeBlanc or Akali. You will build this first over Statikk Shiv as it provides you with the Attack Speed you need to get your Q at its lowest cooldown.
Hexdrinker > SHIELD AND MAGIC RESIST
This item is great to get after you have finished Berserker's Greaves and Zeal. It gives you a decently sized shield and some extra Magic Resist to help you win trades, or at least survive if they are fed.
Guardian Angel > ARMOR AND A REVIVE
Gives you 40 Armor to make you a little bit less squishy and a nice 40 Attack Damage. But, this isn't even the main reason to build it. You get a revive every 5 minutes. This can turn around a team fight or even the game.
For the build in-game Download This and import it into your item collection.
The main combos with Yasuo that makes him so flashy are the airblade and beyblade. The airblade is very easy to learn and is used when you are in a team fight, 1v1, etc. The beyblade isn't very resource-effective as it requires your flash to pull it off but is very useful for those people that are nearly out that has a unit behind that is dash-able. Below are all the combos that you can use in a video by Error Cloud.
