I have recently been playing lots of Bard support and am still in shock of how strong he can be! The thing I actually like the most about him is the way Meeps allow you to scale up really well into late game. Additionally, he is one of the most fun and unique champs to play whilst being viable at the same time. Why would you not main Bard?

Almost all of Bard's skill-cap can be put down to timing. Yes, he has skill-shots but when you use your abilities is often more important.
His Ultimate for example is awesome as a way to engage and a way to disengage but when you are actually caught up in a skirmish, there is often no clear time to use it although it could be extremely useful. The obvious uses are setting up a wombo combo, protecting your team whilst backup arrives or taking a number of enemies out of the fight to allow your team to focus their carries.
However on a more macro level Bard ult can be used to refresh cooldowns, stop channels and zone movement. In this case it is impossible to keep track of everyone but more about feeling when is a good time to use it.
With regards to portal, how greedy can you be with it? Don't chase down a kill with it if you have no vision of their jungler.
