How I got to platinum!

Trundle has been my main champion for a long time now. But I have put off making this guide for a few reasons. I had decided if I was going to make a guide for my main champion that I want to make it as high quality as possible. So I had to start off making other guides and learn from those experiences to make this one today.

Trundle is a melee bruiser who deals both magic and physical damage. He is well known for being an antitank. So what makes trundle good? Unlike other bruiser jungler, trundle can afford to go less tanky early and mid-game and make up for it with his ultimate. This format works well with my build for Trundle. Also his Pillar of Ice makes terrain, which is an extremely powerful skill in the league of legends. Mastering Trundle's Pillar of Ice and Subjugate are absolutely essential to his gameplay. In this guide I'll give you the knowledge you need to utilize these abilities correctly.

It should be noted that this guide is for higher level playing. Mastering this build will be no easy task for multiple reasons. I don't run flash at all on Trundle, which requires a very strong knowledge of positioning and initiations. Also although his abilities are pretty straightforward, they are still very technical.

My Stats with Trundle

Pros and Cons

Pros

+ Easy Jungler and Safe
+ Very good against Tanks
+ Can carry and tank.
+ Can pretty much outduel anyone.
+ Pillar of Ice is incredibly strong with ton of uses.
+ Very fast in speed with items and Frozen Domain
+ Absolutely annihilate towers.
+ Very strong healing passive
+ Can be tanky without items with Subjugate
+ Great at catching up and chasing.
+ Very little mana problems.
Trundle fits well into most team compositions. And in the current meta, tanky jumgles(like xin, shyvana, udyr) are still very strong making him a strong pick. He is one of the most underrated champions in the game, and you find yourself catching many players offguard. it's a strong dualist and has the potential to turn games with Pillar of Ice.

Cons

- Very hard to learn
- Early game he can be pretty easy to kill if ganged up on.
- Pillar of Ice and Subjugate has a strong learning curve.
- Learning to play without flash can be very difficult (but well worth it)
- Very farm heavy early game and costly core items.
- Teammates aren't always supportive of trundle cause he is rare.
- Not the strongest ganker
He is very strong but everyone has a weakness. This build requires you to be farm heavy early game, this tends to lead to not the strongest ganks. When picking trundle make sure you let your team know that you're a farm heavy jungler and they have to ask for ganks to give you the most time to get your core items. Trundle has it pretty big learning curve and it's even harder without flash. But if you can master him, he will carry you in games.

Summoner Spells

- Exhaust Trundle isn't the best ganker and exhaust helps make up for that weakness. It also helps you win a lot of duels that you normally wouldn't. I played over 300 games with Trundle and found very few uses for flash. He is already great at getting away with his movement speed from Frozen Domain and Pillar of Ice.

- Smite It's clear why we take smite the jungler, so I will talk about why Skirmisher's Sabre. I played Trundle as a dualist and try to pick off their teams carries. He is already good at chasing and you tend not to want to use subjugate on squishies so you just want to reduce as much damage as you can to take them. Also ensure that you win every single duel that you face.

- Flash Referred to as the strongest summoner spell in the game. Although that might be true, I don't really feel it necessary on trundle and as proof I've gotten to platinum with out it. He a movement speed ability, a terrain and slow, and he is hard to kill. As long as you're good with your position you should find yourself in many positions where you need to get "out of jail card".

Runes

Mark of Attack Speed - One of the reason trundle destroys towers is because of his high attack speed which he gets from items and runes. Trundle already gets extra attack damage from Chomp. So the early attack speed helps complement this and overall makes his jungle faster.

Seal of Armor - This is pretty basic of all jungler. Trundle can get through the jungle and have a sizable amount of HP afterwards with the help of these runes and his passive.

Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist - Also pretty basic of junglers. This helps make him pretty tanky mid game with out items.

Quintessence of Movement Speed - Trundle is fast and I have always felt the MS is one of the strongest things in the game. In some games I tend to hold off on boots and its because of Frozen Domain and these runes.

Abilities

My video will help explain some of this skills more if you don't want to read this wall of text, but both this and the video are great for learning!

King's Tribute - Whenever an enemy unit near Trundle dies, Trundle heals for 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6% of its maximum health.

- Neutral monster deaths will trigger King's Tribute, even if their killer was an enemy.
- King's Tribute does not trigger when an enemy structure is destroyed.

This is one of the reasons he is one of the best junglers in my eyes. This heal is huge and late game often if you are low on hp, one or two camps will get you enough hp to enter the fight again. Just being a bush waiting to the lane to be push to gank a team can heal you to max just by the minions dying. It's a strong passive that makes you even tankier then people think.

Chomp - ACTIVE: Trundle's next basic attack deals bonus physical damage and Slow icon slows his target by 75% for 0.1 seconds.
BONUS PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+ 0 / 5 / 10 / 15 / 20% AD)
Successfully dealing damage with Chomp grants Trundle bonus attack damage for 8 seconds, during which his target also loses attack damage equal to half of Chomp's bonus.
BONUS ATTACK DAMAGE: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40

-Chomp is an on-hit effect.
-The triggering attack will apply other on-hit effects and can critically strike as normal.
-As with most on-hit physical damage, the bonus damage from Chomp will apply life steal.
-Critical strikes will not interact with the bonus damage from Chomp.
-The bonus damage will affect structures.
-Chomp's damage will be mitigated and the buff consumed if Trundle's attack is Aegis Protection blocked, Counter Strike dodged, Riposte parried or if the attack misses, but will still incur the attack damage increase/decrease.
- Banshee's Veil Spell shields will block the ability.
- Devourer double hit works with chomp

Chomp is a great move. It's why we want to build attack speed early because he already gets bonus attack damage from this skill. But with the new update Devourer new passive now makes chomp hit twice and that just makes him all that much strong. It also resets the attack timer so you want to auto attack then follow with chomp.

Frozen Domain - ACTIVE: Trundle coats the target 1000-radius area with ice for 8 seconds, gaining bonus movement speed and attack speed, as well as 20% increased healing and health regeneration from all sources while inside the area.
BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40%
BONUS ATTACK SPEED: 20 / 35 / 50 / 65 / 80%

Frozen Domain makes your passive of stronger. It also makes your attack speed even higher, make Subjugate and life steal heal more, and increase your movement speed. Over all it's a huge steroid. It has a ton of uses and it got stronger with its recent buff to make healing always 20% more rather than scale up. Frozen Domain works amazing with Subjugate + Blade of the Ruined King. You should always combo with these when standing on domain.

Pillar of Ice - ACTIVE: Trundle projects a pillar of ice at the target location for 6 seconds. Enemies caught in the center of the eruption are Airborne icon knocked back 225-units.
The pillar blocks movement within 62.5-range and Slow icon slows enemies within 187.5-range.
SLOW: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50%

-Pillar of Ice is a ground-targeted area of effect ability.
Banshee's Veil Spell shields will not block the ability.

-Pillar of Ice grants sight within 600-range.
-Pillar of Ice cannot be placed inside impassable terrain. Attempting to do so will cause the pillar to spawn in the nearest available spot of accessible terrain, similar to Wards
-Pillar Of Ice deals 1 damage for it to trigger in-combat effects such as drawing tower aggro and cancelling the effects of out-of-combat abilities such as Strut and [Perseverance]].
-Pillar of Ice is able to interrupt both ally and enemy Recall.png Recall
-Pillar of Ice can interrupt any channel ability
-Pillar of ice can also stop abilities such as lee sins Resonating Strike mid air.

Piller makes trundle so much strong, terrain skill are so so powerful when used right. This skill can make you a terror to face. But sadly if used wrong it can be a terror for your own team. It can block off paths and catch champions out of position. It can interrupt channeled abilities, recalls, dashes even flashes if very well timed. Can't even get player stuck. Can also be used to separate a melee champion away from an allied champion. On top of all that it gives an AoE slow. There is so many uses I couldn't dream of going over all of them.

I have to give a shout out to Cliques007. My guide is about how I play trundle and help players get use to him. But Cliques007 has an amazing pillar guide and even has a map where you can block off paths on the map. I got to give it to him for knowing pillar better then I and if you want to master trundle his guide is a powerful tool as well!

Cliques007 Pillar Guide, Check it out after this one!

Subjugate - ACTIVE: Trundle drains the life force out of the target enemy champion, dealing magic damage to it whilst also healing himself for the same amount, as well as stealing 40% of the target's armor and magic resist.
「 INITIAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 10 / 13.75 / 17.5 (+ 1% per 100 AP) of target's maximum health 」
Half of the armor and magic resist are drained immediately and the other half over the next 4 seconds. The armor and magic resist modifiers slowly decay for both Trundle and his target over 4 seconds after the drain completes.

Important extra information:
-The total value of armor and magic resistance drained is determined at the point of cast and does not adjust if the target's armor or magic resistance subsequently changes. This means that Subjugate cast on a target possessing a temporary defensive buff will in actuality steal significantly more than 40% of the target's armor and magic resistance if it wears off mid-drain, or vice versa if it is applied mid-drain.
-Contrary to what happens with armor and magic resistance, temporary changes to maximum health such as Wild Growth will not cause Subjugate to deal more or less damage than intended.

Subjugate is a hard ability to master. It also has different uses. It can be used to nuke down someone by stealing their armor and magic resist and deal damage. It can be used on tanks to help team take him down. It can be used on a tank at the start of a fight for you to take on the tank role in the fight. It can be used to deal that last bit of damage on someone just out of reach (it will act as a stronger ignite). It has a very low cooldown so it have a bit of freedom to cast it and sometimes in longer fights behind about to cast it more then once. Mastering when the best time to use this ability is and on who is key to being a great trundle player.

In team fights it is 80% of the time best to use it on the enemy tank. Also it's not always good to use right away, sometimes you want to wait till you are being forced or you are at half health. If you know you will be taking a lot of damage right away then use it as soon as possible. Looking at what items they all have before a fight will help you pick who is the best target or 2nd best target for Subjugate. It is very important to know who is the tankest and 2nd tankest on the other team.

When dueling, only use it after taking some damage and use it only when standing on Frozen Domain to get the most health. Subjugate + Blade of the Ruined King + frozen domain, will shock people how much it heals you. You can turn most fights around, on top of the damage reduction you get from summoner spells.

Optional Items

Banshee's Veil - If they are magic heavy then this is a great item to pick if you feel you need more magic resist. If whatever reason you don't like Spirit Visage then you can replace it but honestly I would only replace Guardian Angel with it.

Sunfire Aegis If facing a heavy AD team, sometimes this is better then Guardian Angel late game. It gives you more armor and health and the burn is always nice. It is a great option. Some games if you are far behind it is better to get sunfire cause it costs just a bit less then omen.

Frozen Mallet Give a ton of hp and a great slow. I hardly ever get this item myself but fed it is totally ok to grab a mallet. It takes the place of Guardian Angel for league game. Also if you get mallet you may want to build Frozen Heart over Randuin's Omen since mallet is taking up your hp item now.

Wit's End - Another item I rarely get but with the new jungle item passive wit ends got pretty strong, it stacks faster now and it's passive applies two times every other hit. Make it a definite consideration in the build against AP teams.

Warmog's Armor - Massive hp and it works will with your items and abilities. If you team doesn't have a tank then warmog's deserves some consideration. It is pretty cheap and give a huge HP bonus. I would get this in place of omen and add Frozen Heart or Thornmailto the build.

Maw of Malmortius - Another rarely use item by me, but if you're doing well and against a magic heavy team. Then it works well in place of Guardian Angel or Spirit Visage.

Thornmail - If they have an AD heavy team or a super fed ADC. I would get thornmail after your HP Item. This will help you win duels and make you focused less if they are an ad team leaving you open to peel for your team.

Frozen Heart Great item. This item should only be picked if you end up getting a big HP Item like Warmog's Armor or Frozen Mallet. Reduces a ton of AD on you cause of the armor and passive and the extra mana is nice. Also this will max out your CD if you have Spirit Visage.

It is very notable I end to only change my last item in this build which is Guardian Angel late game. Sometime because of how the game goes you may end up trying to go for cheaper items but leave the core items as is. Boots are susceptible to change base on the match up and game.
