Champion Build Guide
Hello everyone and welcome to "My Viktor's Build" guide. I am EUNE League of Legends player and my name in game is Hektor Ulmer (not my real life name, it's just what I added). My rank in other account was Diamond III, but I can't really remember my old account name because I took a break from the game for a several years but I really don't mind that and now I created new account to play for fun and not to be the best player in the game. My favourite champion in game is ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Mid Lane: Strong Difficulty to play: Hard ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Pros
![]() +Strong waveclear once you upgraded your ![]() +Crazy AOE damage with his ![]() +Great zone control +Great at kiting +His ultimate ![]() +Does absolute amazing job in teamfights +Very hard to destroy ![]() +Becomes GOD in late game once he has full items +He has probably best dance in League ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
-Like all other mages, he is squishy -Weak early game -Bad waveclear before upgrade -Hard to play -Immobile, which he can be easily ganked -Weak when behind -Needs time to scale -Weak against assassins and gap closers -Players often ban him in draft modes :/ Unfortunately, ![]() ![]() ![]() |

And this is that I use against easy/fre matchups that they don't have any kill pressure on you and you can freely scale: ![]()
If you don't wanna use these runes, there are other options you can use as ![]() ![]() ![]()

VS
|
So people are started to thinking which rune is best in Season 12 on

FIRST STRIKE
|
PASSIVE: Dealing damage or applying a crowd control effect to an enemy champion within the first 0.25 seconds of champion combat, grants 5 Gold 5 and First Strike for 3 seconds, causing all of your post-mitigation damage dealt against champions to deal 10% bonus true damage. Afterwards, you are granted (Melee 100% / Ranged 70%) of all bonus damage dealt within the duration as gold.![]() Cooldown: 25 - 15 (based on level) seconds |
SUMMON AERY
|
PASSIVE: Damaging basic attacks, abilities, item effects, and summoner spells against an enemy champion signal Aery to pounce at them over 0.45 seconds, dealing 10 − 40 (based on level) (+ 15% bonus AD) (+ 10% AP) Adaptive damage. Healing, shielding, or buffing an allied champion signals Aery to jump to them over 0.35 seconds, shielding them for 35 − 80 (based on level) (+ 40% bonus AD) (+ 25% AP) for 2 seconds. Aery applies her effects upon arrival. Aery then lingers on the target for a little less than 2 seconds before flying back to the user, and cannot be sent out again until she returns. Aery is initially very slow, but gradually accelerates, and can be picked up by moving near her. |
As you can see, these Rune Keystones do different damage.

But what does

1. His Q

2. Viktor will deal the most damage with his E

3. If the opponents get way too close for comfort be sure to lock them in place with your W

4. All of his basic abilities can be upgraded or augmented each time he gets a kill and once you have all upgraded abilities, you will gain even much gold than before.
5. He is a scaling mage champion meaning

Both of these Rune Keystones are very good on

You should start at lvl 1 with ability

You can also put point at lvl 1

In some matchups, you wanna put a point at lvl 2

Starting Items:
DORAN'S RING A standard item for most of the mages. It gives you Aility Power, Health and a passive that restores mana when you damage and enemy champion. This is where I start in almost every single game and every player should start too. |
CORRUPTING POTION Another option to start that gives a lot of sustain. Since ![]() ![]() ![]() |
DARK SEAL If you wanna to snowball or thinking that you have an easy opponent, you can go for this item since it gives you more Ability Power for each takedown and you can later upgrade to ![]() |
SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL If you are planning to rush early ![]() ![]() ![]() |
TEAR OF THE GODDESS If you are having with mana trouble early especially if you are facing against manaless champion, you can start with this item. It will help you to increase your mana and you can stay in your lane for much longer and spam a lot but please do not upgrade into ![]() ![]() ![]() |
STEALTH WARD You must ALWAYS start with ![]() ![]() ![]() |
First Recall:
LOST CHAPTER You must get this item as soon as possible. This is very important item for every mages to upgrade into mythic item of their choices. |
SEEKER'S ARMGUARD If you are facing against AD assassins especially against harder matchups, then get it to survive their burst. Without that, you will be easily killed and they will start to snowball. |
VERDANT BARRIER If you are facing against AP burst, then this item will help you to survive. Later upgrade it into ![]() |
CATALYST OF AEONS This item and ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
OBLIVION ORB If you are against some champions that heals a lot, then you can buy this as a first item. I don't buy this before Mythic item even if I struggle. |
CONTROL WARD Buy this often when you are going to recall. It will help you to reveal location and invisible wards so you can clean them. This also reveals invisible champions such as ![]() |
Mythic Items:
LUDEN'S TEMPEST If you are playing against a squishy enemy team, then this item is a must buy. If you combine together with ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
LIANDRY'S ANGUISH This item is good if the enemy team has a lot of bruisers or tanks. It's also effective against a champions that you are facing in laning phase such as ![]() ![]() ![]() |
CROWN OF THE SHATTERED QUEEN If you are facing against a burst champion or any assassins especially if you struggle a lot, then this Mythic Item will help you. Unlike ![]() |
EVERFROST If the enemy team has a lot of gap closers and dashes, then this Mythic Item will defenitely help you. It's also effective against some matchups such as ![]() ![]() |
ROD OF AGES![]() ![]() |
Boots:
SORCERER'S SHOES My standard boots for almost every game. It gives you flat magic penetration which is good for early and mid game. |
IONIAN BOOTS OF LUCIDITY Quite good for CDR. With these boots, you will be able to spam your abilities a lot. Also, reduces your cooldown on your Summoner Spells. |
MERCURY'S TREADS If the enemy team has a lot of CC or that deals a lot of magic damage, then these boots are must to buy. I buy this when I am facing against ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Core Items:
SHADOWFLAME This item is very powerful on ![]() ![]() ![]() |
ZHONYA'S HOURGLASS Very good item especially if you are facing against AD champion especially if they are assassins. This item will save you a lot especially against some ultimates such as ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
RABADON'S DEATHCAP Probably the most important and ultimate scaling late game item that every mage buys. The passive gives you a massive increase of Ability Power. Buy it after Mythic Item only if you are very fed and have enough gold, if not, then buy it as a 4th or 5th item. |
VOID STAFF Very good item for any mages. This Item will help you to ignore their Magic Resist as you will deal even more damage to bruisers or tanks. You can buy it earlier especially if you are against like ![]() |
LICH BANE This item is amazing on ![]() ![]() |
Situational Items:
BANSHEE'S VEIL This item grants you a spell shield that blocks champions ability and it's very good against heavy AP team or against burst mages such as ![]() ![]() ![]() |
MORELLONOMICON This item is good if their enemy has a lot of healings or if you are facing against healing champions such as ![]() ![]() |
COSMIC DRIVE Gives you great Cooldown REduction, Ability Power and Movement Speed and a passive when you deal damage to enemy champions with basic attacks or abilities 3 times, you will gain bonus Movement Speed and AP. This Item no longer gives Health but it gives you much more AP than before and now it's really strong Item for ![]() ![]() |
DEMONIC EMBRACE A good item against bruisers and tanks as you gain Ability Power equal to your health and dealing damage to enemy champions causes of them as maximum health. |
SERAPH'S EMBRACE This item has been changed and now it gives you Ability Power instead of Ability Haste based how much you have mana. It now has a new passive that gives you a shield when you are below 30% health. The more mana you have, the more shield you will gain. I think this item will be defenitely strong especially into tanky team and also against assassins that can save your lifes. I will try this item in the future games and let you know if this item is worth to buy on ![]() |
HORIZON FOCUS Honestly, I haven't tried yet that item, but I think it's only good for long range mages who spams abilities from long distance. Your only long range is ![]() |
MEJAI'S SOULSTEALER An upgraded item from ![]() |
Elixir:
ELIXIR OF SORCERY If your build is full, then always buy ![]() |
In this chapter, I am going to show you which Mythic items you should buy against enemy team comp. There are 4 types of Mythic items that

|
1. Luden's Tempest This Mythic item is one of the most popular and best item for ![]() ![]() |
|
2. Liandry's Anguish This is second best Mythic item for ![]() ![]() |
|
3. Crown of the Shattered Queen This Mythic item is very good if you are against burst mage champion that deal insane amount of damage or against assassins that can take down squishies really well. It's way cheaper than ![]() ![]() |
|
4. Everfrost This is quite unpopular but underrated Mythic item for ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
But wait, there is another Mythic item that has been removed for a long time ago and now it's back. And that is:
|
Rod of Ages This item is back and it's very good on scaling champions and for those who wants to be more tanky. It gives more Mana, more Health and Ability Power each minute. It's good on champions who has a huge mana problems in early game However, it is not truly good on ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Now that I esxplained Mythic items, I will show which of them you will use against enemy team comp as

1st example on your team vs enemy team:
If you look at their enemy team below, they have no tanks neither bruisers. They are completely squishy and they don't build health and resistences items. They can be easily bursted down or should I say oneshoted. Which Mythic item you should build. Of course

Alright, so what about 2nd example:
Their enemy team has bruiser

Now let's see about 3rd example:
Their enemy team comp is very tanky and it't seems hard to kill them once they get few items. They can survive much burst and they can stay alive for much longer. This is where you must buy

OK, so what about this 4th example:
Their enemy team has only 1 tank

Now let's see about this 5th example:
Their enemy team has a lot of burst and can delete squishy champions quickly.

And finally, 6th example:
Look at their enemy team. They have a lot of mobility, dashes, they are hard to catch the and they can outplay you. This is where your team needs to have hard CC or slows in order to stop their mobility. As a

Early game, you can play aggressively or defensively depending on the lane match-up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Once you first recall, you should buy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
This is where ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In the meantime, you should have completed at least 1 core item ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Now this is where it starts to change. This is where ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In teeamfights, make sure to always stay backline and kite enemies with your abilities. Use your ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Do not forget that your ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When playing any objectives, use your ![]() ![]() |

And also, you can watch this video:
Don't always use

This is great when the enemy is chasing you and you can still poke them while moving.
One note that your laser also reveal some location such as bushes.
Do NOT forget that your

Farming
Farming is the most important thing in the game. You have to make sure to always last hit minions when they are close to death. Simply use your basic attack to last hit minions. When under your turret, make sure to wait for your turret to hit them before last hitting them. Don't always use your abilities to hit minions unless if you are going to clear them fast. Once you have upgraded your

What does freezing mean?
Freezing is a technique that lets you deny your opponent exp and cs. Freezing a lane means that you kite/tank the minions without letting your tower hit the creeps. Always make sure that enemy minions beats yours. If you are keep doing this, you are completely safe from ganks while your opponent will be afraid of ganks and will eventually lost a lot of exp and cs.
I do not recommended to freeze against harder matchups unless if you are very far ahead. If you want to freeze, make sure the enemy pushed you under the tower. In this way, enemy will be vulnerable to ganks. Freezing will force the enemy laner to overextend for farm and will keep you safe since you will be close to the turret. The downside is that you won't be applying any pressure, leaving your opponent free to roam. If you are very far ahead and you are freezing by not pushing, enemy will be in your kill range and he will loss a lot of exp and cs leaving him behind. This is a great way to snowball to lead unless if you have other objectives such as dragons, towers etc.
Warding in League of Legends is incredibly important for every role and every game you play. It is a necessity for everyone to know when to ward, where to ward and how to become better at warding.
Without any vision control, you will find it difficult to survive the early game, win the mid game and close out the late game. When you understand the fundamentals of warding and how you can use it to your advantage, it can really help you win more.
Every player has to start (unless if they play as a jungler) with

This is probably the best places you can put your wards. The more you will put the wards, the more vision score you will gain. After you have finished your lane, you can keep your

Roaming is very impactful for a mid laner because it is the center lane on the map. You are always a threat to help out top or bot lane. Mid laners are also usually the closest to their jungler, and as such can make plays on the map together.
It is important to first tend to your minion wave before you roam. Ideally, you will get the minion wave pushed into the enemy turret and then look to roam. You can still roam if you clear the minion wave after the enemy mid clears theirs, but you will have lost tempo on your map movement.
You also need to be aware of the situation on the map you are moving toward. Your allies should have enough health and mana to support you in your gank. It is also helpful if your allies can communicate to you what summoner spells the enemies still have available.
You must be sure that you have a safe path to the lane you want to roam on. The enemy jungler can block your path if you do not have sufficient wards or information on the junglers whereabouts.
Every champion in Mid lane can roam even those who is immobile. As a

White Lines: This is the simple way to roam. Going on the river and roaming either on Bot or Top way is the fastest way to roam.
Blue Lines: If you are on the blue side, there are some ways to roam. If you are planning to roam on Bot lane, you can do it by going on river, then heading near Blue buff on the red side and then going into bushes. Once you reach there and if the enemy Bot lane is near their tower, you can come to help your Bot lane to get the kills. If you are going on Top lane, first go to riven then go between the baron and Red buff on the red side and then go in the bushes. Be prepared if the enemy doesn't know you are there so you can help your Top laner to get the kill.
Red Lines: If you are on the red side, if you are going to roam on Bot lane, you can go between Red buff on the blue side and dragon and once you reach in the bushes, be quick to get there or else the enemy will retreat near the tower. Or if they are near their tower and they are low, you can try to get the kills. If going on Top lane, first go to the river and then go left where is there near blue buff on the blue side and then head to the bushes. Once you have reached there, if the enemy is completely low, help your Top laner to kill the enemy.
So everybody is asking what to do when your enemy is ahead and you are behind. Well, if you are behind, don't worry about it, the game isn't just over yet and it isn't so early to surrender. Keep your mental up. Playing from behind is something you got to learn. This extends to both in lane and out of lane gameplay. If your team is ahead and you're behind, then there is a high chance to win the game. For example, if Bot lane is very ahead and they have destroyed their enemy tower, they will likely to be fed and the enemy team will try hard to destroy them so just pray if they are good players. If you and all your team is behind, then there is a very little chance to comeback as it will be very hard to stop them unless if the enemy is completely throwing the game.
Your general focus should be on farming and avoiding fights. Also avoid roaming and utilize lane wards so you can warn your team when your opponent goes somewhere. Do not follow their roams. Even if you do get there in time, your impact will be severely limited due to being behind. Also, build defensive items to survive if you are behind. This will help you to prevent them to busrt you down quickly. It will not work every single game but at least it will give you a bit advantage.
As a main

However, you can buy any Mythic Item, it's up to you. Or if the enemy team has a lot of tanks and you are facing a squishy champion, then you may buy

Now, I will show matchups in alphabetic order from A to Z and explain how to win and survive every lane:

There are a lot of champions that works really well with

Top Lane:
I like him in top lane. He is very strong in the early/mid game and has amazing knock up damage and a chain that can catch champions easily if they are caught by your ![]() |
Another very strong top laner. Her ultimate can catch one champion and the targeted champion can't escape from through. ![]() |
A huge beast with lot of CC that works really well with ![]() ![]() |
Very tanky and can chase the enemy team with his immunity against CC and also scales well in late game. |
His ultimate is global, it slows, allies gains movement speed inside and deals true damage in the center. His barrels can delete squishies in late game if he placed them correctly. |
With his ultimate in mega form if he manages to hit enemies on the wall, ![]() |
With his and ![]() The downsides is that he doesn't scale well in late game. |
If the enemy champions is caught by your ![]() |
Very tanky, so much CC and scales well into late game. His passive can upgrade your Mythic item which is amazing. This giant will sure make you very happy in teamfights as well. |
He does an amazing job together with ![]() ![]() |
I love ![]() ![]() |
Very tanky in late game and has tons of CC. If he managed to stunned them, you can delete them with your combo. |
![]() ![]() |
His knock up ultimate is really deadly in teamfights which he can cast twice and your ![]() |
If the enemy champions are caught by your ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Jungle:
Almost every champion works perfect with ![]() ![]() |
If she manages to ult few champions ![]() |
Very mobile, high damage, can stun champions if he and the enemies are inside the circle and can go back in time to heal thanks to his ultimate. |
His ultimate is very terrifying in teamfights and deals massive damage over time but he is quite squishy champion. |
A ranged jungler that works well with ![]() ![]() |
His ganks are extremely good and his ultimate can fear and deal damage to the champions as well. |
My favourite jungler. If he catches the enemy champions with his ultimate, ![]() ![]() ![]() |
The most pupular jungler in the game and also very strong early/mid game with mobility and damage. |
Very tanky and also has very good ganks thanks to his abilities. If he is bush and he is chanelling ultimate without enemies being noticed, he can deal massive damage. |
So much CC and so tanky and yet very good in teamfights. With her a lot of slow ans stuns you can easily engage and kill the enemy champions. |
He can suppress the enemy champion and drag him with his ultimate and you can quickly kill him with your abilities. |
Very strong duelist, can invade and kill their junglers. can also turned them thanks to his passive and scales in every stages in the game. |
Very strong and very tanky jungler that has ton of CC and excels well in teamfights. |
Great ganks with his knock ups and yet very tanky. Also very fantastic in teamfights as well. |
Bottom lane:
Her ultimate has a stun the farther the arrow travels, the longer it will stun up to maximum at 3.5 seconds. |
An ADC bully that has impressive damage and with your ![]() |
A poke ADC that is incredibely hard to catch him and if the enemy is stunned in your ![]() |
My favourite ADC. Has a root abilities and his ultimate has long range yet massice damage each 4 shot with his final shot is deadly. |
Just like ![]() ![]() |
Very strong ADC. Mobile, high damage and his ultimate is very effective with your ![]() |
If the enemy team is caught by your ![]() |
She is very scary in teamfights especially in close combat which she has a chance to make penta kill with her ultimate. |
His ultimate has a root ability that can snare each champion that they are close enough and you can eliminate them with your abilities. |
Since he is now more playbale in bot lane, they both work really well together. Both scale well in late game and their ultimates will destroy their entire enemy team. |
Support:
Has a knock up, knock back, very tanky and his ultimate reduces his damage. |
He pulls the enemy champion, knocks him up and he is pretty much dead. Nice. |
Nice CC and pretty tanky. Can block most of the abilities with his shield and his ultimate can knock them up. |
Amazing tanky support with a lot of CC. Can soak up a lot of damage before she dies and with her ultimate, you can easily cast your abilities. |
Very tanky support. His ultimate has almost half of the range or the map. Can root enemies quiet easily. |
Another amazing tanky support with a lot of CC. Can easily engage the enemies. |
A nice support with invisibility, can catch champions fairly easy and with his passive when takedown, you will gain extra gold. |
Heal, movement speed, CC, this champion will make you happy especially in teamfights as well. |
Like ![]() |
Nice support. With his revive, you can live twice in row. |
Has a plants, root abilities and her knock up ultimate is very effective in teamfights which will make you happy. |
There are many OP or should I say: Broken champions that many players found them frustrating to beat them or they don't wanna face them in general. I am going to show you what recommended champions you should ban if you are playing going to play

This is probably the worst nightmare matchup for ![]() |
You don't like this anti AP champion that counters a lot of mages, then this guy is also good ban. He scales like a monster in late game and can almost delete squishy champions and can escape easily with his ultimate. This champion is so easy to carry the game but if you are very proffesional player with ![]() |
This champion will definitely get you mad when you will play against him. He has many abilities that can outplay you and can destroy your entire team in late game. A lot players ban him because they hate him so much due to his wind wall, he has no sources (he is manaless) and many other things that I can't explain how I also hate him so much. Feel free to ban him if you don't wanna face him. |
Very unbalanced and very broken champion once he gets few items as he can almost any champions 1 vs 1 or even 1 vs 3. Like ![]() |
One of the most banned champion in the game. He can counter almost any champions in mid lane if he plays correctly and has very good roams. Despite being nerfed in many patches, the players are still banning him. The good things thought he doesn't scale well in late game because players will buy defensive items to counter him and he only builds damage items which makes him squishy champion. This is my personal ban (my other personal bans are ![]() ![]() |
There are some champions that are really bad against

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
This matchup is an absolute nightmare for ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
He is an anti mage champion that can negate a lot of Magic damage and does really well against burst mages such as ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
If I'm being honest, this is probably the hardest counter for ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
He is hard countered by ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
This lane is a horrible for ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Almost unplayable matchup for ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Many players plays him in Mid lane and he has many good matchups if he plays correctly. He doesn't do well against control mages such as ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
It's ![]() |
Yea, you picked the worst designed champion in the game against ![]() ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
No, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Picking ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
If you wanna know how to counter

And that's it. That's the end of the my guide. I hope this guide will help you a lot and make your games much better with

I also created other guides as well so check it out if you wanna play with them:
